The The

"This is the Day" from Soul Mining (which is my favorite album from the '80s) is my favorite song...ever. Matt Johnson is a god.

IndiElectronica 05-04-2007 09:51 AM

you + me = friends :)

i actually rate Soul Mining as my favorite album ever. no lies!!

hard to explain why... it's mostly the fact that he is a MASTER lyricist - taking greart thoughts/words and putting them into a good song..

IndieShotYou 05-04-2007 03:39 PM

Agreed. Soul Mining is fantastic. Definitely one of the greatest albums of all time.

poloboy23 05-06-2007 09:45 PM

the the are pretty sweet

If you like them you will definitely love ted leo and the pharmacists

IndieShotYou 05-07-2007 11:53 AM

What...

Poloboy, I can understand that you love Ted Leo (I think he's one of the greatest songwriters of the last ten years) but to compare Ted Leo and his Pharmacists to The The is ridiculous. Leo's pop-punk music isn't even remotely similiar to Johnson's versatile career. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to offend you but the fact of the matter is your post was pointless.

IndiElectronica 05-08-2007 03:21 AM

not a ted leo fan myself either i must say...

the the is (i must amdit) more pop...

I severely dislike Ted Leo, but if someone could upload Mind Bomb I've been after that album for at least two years.

That was just too cool.

cardboard adolescent 05-23-2007 08:45 PM

Just got around to trying to extract it, any idea what the password is on that?

Sparky 05-26-2007 12:38 PM

would have been easier if you had asked me that 2 weeks ago..

IndiElectronica 06-01-2007 04:51 AM

if you need this still let me know...

cardboard adolescent 06-01-2007 03:30 PM

I've been digging The The alot recently, Soul Mining is so fantastic it just blows me away. Excellent lyrics.

IndiElectronica 07-13-2010 03:30 AM

niccar113 07-14-2010 04:11 PM

Mind Bomb is one of the most near-perfect albums ever - there's hardly a wasted note on it. Infected and Soul Mining are very good albums too, but they're simply nowhere near as good as Mind Bomb; they don't manage to pul off that dark, paranoid vibe to such an effect for me. The album that llowed it up, Dusk, is pretty decent too, but a lot more of a work of conventional rock 'n' roll than its predecessors. Haven't got anything beyond that myself, so I should probably dig around their discography a bit more.

Anyway, my favourite song of their's at the minute;

adidasss 07-14-2010 05:18 PM

Well that was certainly underwhelming. :\

Bulldog 07-14-2010 05:23 PM

Well, I did say this...

Plus the song's not off Mind Bomb, so I stand by my initial remark.

adidasss 07-14-2010 06:47 PM

Well, wiki says dance-pop/art-pop so I guess I'll give Soul mining and Mind bomb a go...

Good man :thumb:

Sorry if I came across as a bit confrontational there - I get kinda grouchy when I'm tired.
