Default Unwound

Unwound was a post-hardcore with elements of math rock band 90s that found their sound somewhere in between the rough noise of Drive Like Jehu and and the Smooth Progressesions of June of 44. I like their whole discography and I'm not severly partial to any album, really.

I always thought of their early stuff as noise-rock, personally. Though I am quite partial to it, I think Leaves Turn Inside You is by far their best album... beautiful, layered, just generally stunning. They really need to release another album like it.

I haven't listened to all of Unwound's music yet, but from what i've listened to I really enjoyed Leaves Turn Inside You, it was an amalgam all the different influences that band has drawn from in there. And thought New Plastic Ideas was much more powerful and better all around than Future Of What (the preceding album)

The only one I don't have on my computer is s/t and if someone could up that would be nice and if anyone wants any of the others just ask.

Noise rock definitely can apply but I really don't think they're as harsh as Drive Like Jehu so, I'm not so quick to use the term with them.

They're probably my favourite band. Whatever genre you're filing them under, they were amazing at what they did and brought a new perspective to things for me. Justin Troper is an amazing frontman, and there's an incredible video on youtube of them doing the song Valentine Card from Fake Train, where he's rolling about the stage and screaming like nothing I've heard before from Unwound. I would give my penis to see them live, honestly. I hope they reunite, because a follow up to Leaves Turn Inside of You would be mesmerizing.

I can upload their self titled for you tomorrow, swimintheundertow.

It's also worth mentioning that The Young Ginns, Justin's band before Unwound, are also very cool.

hope you like, swimintheundertow. And anyone else wise enough to listen. It's not the band's best work, but it's still great.

I am listening to Repetition just now and holy god.

This is exactly the sorta sound I'd like to create with a band. Noisy and intricate, with half spoken half screamed vocals. Amazing band.....surely more fans?
