Russian Circles

Russian Circles, an experimental/post rock (according to AMG) from Chicago Instrumental trio formed in 2005 and has released one full-length album entitled "Enter." Their music ranges from delicate to intense, many times within one song.

I just bought their LP a few days ago and I was impressed.

Check them out

good instrumental stuff. I like the variation in their songs unlike some other similar bands which seem to create the same song over and over again.

I've really been digging these guys lately, I can't stop listening to the song "Death Rides A Horse"

I've been listening to them for a couple years now, and they've become one of my favorite post rock instrumental bands (lately, anyway). They just came out with a new album in October called Geneva. A bit heavier than the previous ones, but definitely worth a listen. PM if you want a link, or if you're not a lazy ****, go google it yourself.

I quite enjoy the post-metal scene that seems to be happening around the Chicago area right now. Russian Circles and Pelican to name two off the top of my head. There's also little scenes cropping up all over the country with Red Sparows and Intronaut in Los Angeles, Isis, Caspian, and Rosetta from New England, Baroness down in Savannah, Georgia, Mouth of the Architect in Ohio. The genre is also started to blossom in other areas of the world with Year of No Light in France and longtimers Cult of Luna in Sweden as well as a number of Norwegian bands combining the sounds of post-metal with their black metal scene to create a kind of post-black metal (which is really ****ing awesome). You may have guessed I like my post-metal :P

Look at you ... Dropping knowledge. :) I've heard of most of the bands you listed, but not all. Will be checkin' them out. Is there a post-metal thread yet?
