i heard their live shows are insane

their live shows are amazing. I saw them in New York with Janelle Monet and the show was the second best I have ever seen (right behind the Flaming lips show I saw in Poughkeepsie, that was a PERFECT concert). Amazing light effects, on stage antics like mattresses with girls having pillow fights only to have the audience doused with feathers. Just crazy and fun.

oh did you see them at terminal 5? cuz my friend went to that show haha. then he tried to get me to listen to it. i heard their stuff before but never gave it a real chance till then.

the music is a bit..flamboyant for my taste

Is it okay to resurrect this? Actually the better question is.. why hasn't anyone posted here since 2010?

I've been addicted to of Montreal the last week or so.

Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? was by far my favorite at one point. I've come to realize though, The Gay Parade and Satanic Panic in the Attic are really good albums too. Heck, I really enjoy all of the of Montreal albums.

Kevin is an interesting guy to say the least. I'm not into the whole cross dressing thing or whatever but it doesn't take away from the music and I'd still like to see him perform live.

They're an amazing live experience, although I miss the old band. The fantastical, genderless festoonery is actually a lot of fun when you get into it, especially with a bunch of other people. Nashville and Portland had fans in full headdresses, body paint, nipple tassels--the works, and they were two of the best shows I've seen in my life.

Surprisingly, New York and Seattle seem to be too cool to go all out. **** 'em, they don't know fun.

Hissing Fauna is my favourite album in general.

It actually ranks really high for me too in general. Pretty great album. I could see the whole thing being interesting/fun at a live show, actually.

It's just amazing when the whole crowd participates; the band has always been best on those nights too, and you just know that if you see a guy in line wearing fishnet stockings, a sequined skirt, and a suit-jacket-and-tie, he's going to be an open and fun guy to chat to. When the crowd performs hard, so does the band. It's a very freeing and fun experience when everyone partakes.

I found out about Of Montreal when I was 15, and I haven't turned back. I think Skeletal Lamping took the longest for me to adjust to of all the albums that have come out since then. One thing's definitely held true for me though: Kevin Barnes is far and away one of my favorite lyricists.

Well, at least when he doesn't get too caught up in thesaurus vomit.

In any case, I'd kill to be able to go to one of their live shows. My brother said he was able to go to one when he was studying at the University of Illinois a while back.

But i noticed that in the beginning messages, y'all were talking about your favorite of Montreal albums. I'd have to say that my favorites are cherry peel and the sunlandic twins. When i first heard cherry peel, i became obsessed and had to get all the albums. Almost all of Montreal albums are wonderful in my opinion. Only one or two misses.
