Default Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton

“When I was a little kid…I would creep downstairs to the piano and write rudimentary songs about imaginary places. I’m told the first song I ever wrote was a love song to a cranberry tree. I always used the mute pedal. I hated the idea of anybody hearing me. Everywhere I’ve lived while working with Metric, I’ve written songs on the piano and played them for no one. On the advice of a friend, I decided I’d better start recording them before they were forgotten. Four meandering years later I ended up with this collection of songs featuring a few of my favorite people, a group I call The Soft Skeleton.” - Emily Haines

Broken Social Scene member and Metric vocalist's side project, shes also appeared in various BSS side projects. They (Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton) have a new EP out, which they released it awhile ago "What Is Free to a Good Home?." The sound is basically Emily Haines and her piano with the occasional backing instruments.

Crowd Surf of a Cliff is a really really good song.

She has become one of my top 10 favorite songwriters, and I've only been listening to her for a week or two. Nothing and Nowhere is such a lovely song, I think the first time I heard it I had to listen to it about ten consecutive times. I've since come to like Our Hell and Reading The Bed the most, along with Nothing and Nowhere.

It's a good album, but unfortunately it hard to listen repetitively.

Dr Blind is a good track

The ep isn't that bad at all, not as good as Knives Don't Have Your Back, but it is a bit different from it and still just as lovely. I'm really liking the song Telethon. She still has a beautiful voice and still writes great lyrics.
