Default Sparklehorse

I didn't see anything else on here about this. Found out Mark Linkous committed suicide yesterday and it's really bumming me out. Just curious if anyone else was feeling that, or was a fan or whatever.

If not:

Damn that's a shame.

It feels like ages since the last Sparklehorse album, shame there won't be another one.

Still at least now he's dead he might get some of the attention he should have got years ago.

Yeah, I was actually just thinking earlier this week "Hmm... it's been four years. I wonder when he's gonna come out with something new." :\

And one hopes so. Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot is one of those albums that I can't quite imagine my life without. I always try to pimp that one out to people.

There must be some live material floating around somewhere they can release.

He always struck me as someone who would put on a good live show, shame I never got to find out.

Such awful news. I don't know much about the guy but the few albums I have are far and above some of the most interesting and surreal works out there.

R.I.P.

It's a shame, I've seen Sparklehorse's name around and hadn't bothered to take a listen to his music till now. Now I'm on that "I'll give it a listen because he recently passed away" bandwagon.

This guy really had unique dynamics toward his music & sound, such a 'soft' approach to his style, but with a very powerful sound. When I got to the song 'Pig', it was obvious I was reminded of the Nirvana story, (not to insult any fans), I really liked 'Please dont take my sunshine away' alot! such a talented artist lost....

I kind of took him for granted myself. I really should have paid more attention when I had the chance; none of his albums are disappointing in the least. He has a very unique approach to songwriting which encompasses an enormous wealth of sounds and recording techniques.

Definitely a far superior songwriter to that asshat Jay Reatard that pulled the plug a few weeks ago.

If I had to compare, his music has a Silver Jews, William Oldham feel... and yeah, I didn't even bother listening to The Reatards even after he died... that sort of gimmicky lo-fi music doesn't really appeal to me.

It really is a shame but hopefully Sparklehorse's music will live on I especially like the song he did with Pj Harvey.
