Wild beasts

Possibly the most original new band coming out of Britain in the last few years? As is written on their last.fm page "They write beautiful, intriguing, slightly offbeat but incredibly catchy pop music."

Check it out:

Wild beasts - Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants

Wild beasts - The devil's crayon

Isn't The devil's crayon bleedin' fantastic?http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/c...ower/wow-1.gif Apparently that's not the usual lead singer though and since I'm in the process of getting the album (Limbo, Panto), I'm not sure if the hoarseness of the lead singers vocals will grate on me...

Here's more:

Wild beasts - Assembly

Which isn't on the album

Wild beasts - Sylvia, a melodrama

Which is the b-side to the Assembly single

Now and again you do pick out a little beauty Marijan! Not too keen on 'Assembly' but the first two especially were top notch. Did you get the album? Thoughts?

I'm not sure yet. The music is outrageously original and unlike anything you'd expect to be coming out of Britain right now, but it's also not something you'd get hooked to instantly, not me anyway. The campy cabaret-ness is at the same time fascinating and off-putting. There's some brilliant pop here (The devil's crayon, Brave bulging buoyant clairvoyants), beautiful ballads (His grinning skull, The old dog), and I generally like the falsetto singing but I also can't help wishing the lead singer refrained from doing his Scooby-doo impression...

So either you'll love it or hate it but it's still well worth a go though...:|

I don't think i love it or hate it, it's just not my thing i'm afraid, respect it all the same though. Haha i liked the Scooby Doo comment, though the singer on Devil's Crayon does have a pretty impressive set of pipes on him...

I know, he's dead sexy too....:o:

Really? I thought he was quite reminiscent of the keyboardist out of Sparks :s

I'm really loving "the devil's crayon"... but I too am not so sure about their other material as of yet. Dont know if I can get used to the guy's usual shrill voice. However I'm willing to give these guys a chance. I'll definitely be looking into them. Thanks for sharing.

When i heard Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants i thought devil music. Was looking for some new satanic music. Definitely going to play this at our next meeting. /sarcasm. I didn't like it at all. But here's my version, in the title.

Pretty kick ass songs...as soon as my computer is virus free then I'll probably download an album or two.
