Sun Kil Moon/Red House Painters

Fans? I think Ethan likes Sun Kil Moon (Lost Verses is just about the best thing ever) but any other fans? The search isn't working, but I checked like 20 pvges back into the Indie forum, so if there's already a thread I'm sorry.

Sun Kil Moon is really chill, I especially like Tiny Cities.

i've been listening to april

it is a good album but maybe a LITTLE on the fcking long side. it could have been about half the length and still been really good.

Ive had a Sun Kil Moon for a while, Im not sure what its called but I love it. I think it has a girl on the front or and angel? It was something I kept in my car and never really pursued to find out much about them.

Really loving Ghosts of the Great Highway at the moment. Probably my favourite album in a while.

I really love Red House Painters' self-titled (Rollercoaster) album. This song must be one of the most depressing and beautiful songs ever recorded:

I had a friend who was absolutely obsessed with this band. I felt really bad because I never listened to them, but thanks for reminding me about them. I'll try and give them a spin on the old gramophone some time.

They really are a very good band. They sound like country music to me at times and I've never minded the length because there are so many subtle and interesting changes. It's good music for driving around.

They're a really great band for just wallowing in despair and losing yourself in their music. Their albums are fairly long but you really don't notice it that much, you just fall into them and you're taken along for the trip.

Just got Down Colorful Hill and I like it a lot. What would you guys recommend next? I remember one of my friend's telling me to get Old Ramon a while ago.

Sun Kil Moon

Has anyone heard of this band? I've recently become a huge fan of Mark Kozelek's work (Red House Painters, Sun Kil Moon). His body of work is unreal. I highly suggest checking out his music.

If you're a fan of his music, what's your favorite songs. Also, can you recommend me similar bands?

I would recommend checking out his Benji album, or April.

Benji is by far the best record released since 2000. It's an absolute masterpiece. So good it's frightening. Listening to it is like having the pain of another human being injected into you intravenously.

The collab between Sun Kil Moon / Jesu from this year wasn't that great, tbh.
The instrumentation was at times too raw and harsh to understand what Mark was saying.
But, he gets more & more personal with every release from him. Definitely listen to "Beautiful You" from that record : Jesu / Sun Kil Moon

Frownland 03-02-2016 12:40 PM

Not to mention that Jesu's instrumentation is some of the most phoned in and uninspired metal I've ever heard. I was excited for that one, too.

I really enjoyed Ghosts of the Great Highway but I can't say any of his other albums have been as good as that one.

A fair, graphic description of his music.
