Immaculate Machine

So I just downloaded Fables and I'm impressed, apparently they had some pretty talented peeps help produce it (Owen Pallet, John Collins.. ect). I got a pretty strong Dodo's vibe, just way more instrumental.. so if you're a fan check these guys out. PM if you liek.

Their website has some sweet comics.

Catchy, but still a little pop-heavy for my taste.

Not bad, I'm quite interested in the Canadian indie scene, like what Broken Social Scene have been doing over the years is pretty cool... although I was never sold on the over-earnest, wall of sound, Arcade Fire ensemble band-style stuff... if that makes any sense? Like that really annoying girl with the violin or the one that bangs the cowbell really hard for 7-minute 2-chord epics. It's too church-y, like white electric indie-gospel.

I guess that's why I like the New Pornographers, they just do good 60's-inflected guitar pop which I'm more partial to. You can just sit back, nod your head and go 'ah nice chord change'; there's no frantic jumping up and down or exorcisms involved.

Immaculate Machine seem to be a bit more on that side of the... British Columbia indie fence (?)
