Go to their Last Fm. shoutbox, there's a link in there.

debaserr 07-23-2010 02:00 PM

early impressions: worst album they have made by far.

TheCunningStunt 07-23-2010 02:01 PM

early impressions: a sparkling return to form.

keith! 07-23-2010 02:06 PM

early impression: i liked it and will listen again soon

i think it's crazy that people are already saying this album is better then Funeral (some people are even calling it better then Ok Computer

debaserr 07-23-2010 02:27 PM

why would you choose OK computer to compare it with?

and cunningstunt: you like it more than neon bible already?

A lot more, and I don't really dislike Neon Bible. I just like this one.

EDIT: Now the music divides us into tribes, you grew your hair so I grew mine. - my favourite lyric of the album thus far.

I wasn't, people on Last Fm and other music forums were. It's because some BBC Music Reviewer claimed it was better then OkC.

TheCunningStunt 07-23-2010 03:57 PM

Early favourite tracks anyone?

Month of May
We Used To Write
Suburban War

Love 'em.

keith! 07-23-2010 04:00 PM

Sprawl II is my favourite.

Also, found the BBC review.

TheCunningStunt 07-23-2010 04:01 PM

Who gives a sh*t what the BBC think?

keith! 07-23-2010 04:07 PM

Did you read it? Or are you just gonna diss it automatically because it's BBC?

James 07-23-2010 04:07 PM

They reached new levels of boring on first impression(I gave it a chance) guess that's some sort of achievement.
Funeral was okay.
Neon Bible was awful.
This is terrible.

Dismiss it automatically because it's the BBC. (I used to be involved with the BBC, c*nts.)

They're really bland and boring aren't they? Like that other artist, what's her name? Oh yeah - Joanna Newsom. Heard of her? If not, I wouldn't bother checking her out if you're not into bland and boring... oh wait.

Oh yeah she's bland, I forgot every artist right now has a voice like her and uses a harp as the main instrument.

She's not generic and samey, but she's still bland.

jayfin3 07-23-2010 05:59 PM

All the links in the last.fm shoutbox are dead. Can someone please send me the new album?

clutnuckle 07-24-2010 02:35 AM

Ys is one of the least 'bland' albums in existence, considering how big of a mother**** in terms of complexity, arrangement, lyricism, and whatnot it is... That aside.

New album really didn't touch me much. Usually Arcade Fire albums hit me hard and then fade away, so maybe this one'll do the opposite.

nylonsmile 07-29-2010 10:48 PM

Well I am loving the Suburbs. It's gotten heavy play the last couple days. "Ready to Start" is probably my favorite. It does seem to lose some of its steam toward the end of the album (to me), but overall I'm still loving it. I don't know how I'd rank it. Probably even with Funeral. Neon Bible is my favorite. I don't know, we'll see how I feel in a month. But yeah, it's gets my two thumbs up.

scottsy 07-29-2010 11:25 PM

I'll have to try to find the remaining 13 tracks i haven't been able to download yet - I really wanna hear this album though! Quite badly!

Because I don't like some boring bint with a harp?

I like a couple of her songs, 1 in particularly but I can't get into her albums.

bungalow 07-30-2010 09:07 PM

good. you and boobs not liking her maintains the status quo--you both sucking.

You liking her just maintains your dullness. Keep up the good work!

Raust 07-30-2010 11:40 PM

They're pretty good a bit overhyped though. The Suburbs is coming out soon and from what I heard it sounds pretty dark.

scottsy 07-31-2010 08:56 AM

Dark is good... the darker the better I say, especially where Arcade Fire is concerned!

I enjoyed Modern Man. I'm actually looking forward to the new album.

Rickenbacker 08-02-2010 08:19 PM

My friends who don't like Funeral and Neon Bible like this album.

that makes sense, i don't like it. :(

TheCunningStunt 08-02-2010 08:25 PM

their new album has actually made them one of my favourite bands, i appreciate them far more than i ever did now i've heard the suburbs.

downwardspiral 08-03-2010 02:41 AM

i'm yet to listen to the suburbs, funeral and neon bible are outstanding though. waiting til i get my laptop back til i listen to the suburbs. never really liked them much 'til i saw them sub to the chili's at leeds 07, they were fucking awesome and blew RHCP off the stage.

Nine Black Poppies 08-03-2010 02:28 PM

It took me a few listens, but I think I've warmed up to the new one. Kind of the same thing that happened with Neon Bible--wasn't really that big a fan at first but it grew on me kind of fast.

Sprawl II is great, as is City With No Children.

loveissucide 08-03-2010 03:53 PM

Liking The Subuurbs a lot, very enjoyable and probably a more sustainable direction than a second Funeral/Neon Bible.

scottsy 08-03-2010 09:41 PM

I personally think The Suburbs maintains about the same (high) quality as Neon Bible and Funeral... I think we have actually stumbled on a rarity here.... a consistently great album producing band... now these are hard to come by these days...

On first listen, The Suburbs is already gaining "potential favorite release of this year" status...

clutnuckle 08-04-2010 02:04 AM

Considering Funeral appeared great at first and then stumbled into regular amiability after ten listens, maybe this one is the opposite? I couldn't help but feel ridiculously bored during The Suburbs. Hopefully it'll grow into something interesting.

keith! 08-04-2010 11:55 AM

anyone else wish it was a little bit shorter? cut out some of the weaker tracks?

I honestly cannot stand Month of May, Half Light (1&2), or Empty Room.
Sprawl II and We Used To Wait are still fantastic though.

Rickenbacker 08-04-2010 12:12 PM

Month of May, Half Light II and Empty Room are my favorites :/
