Will i like The Smiths if i liked their great hits?

I recently picked up The Sound of The Smiths, and I was wondering, if I really liked the greatest hits album, will I like the rest of their albums? Or are their greatest hits the only songs I will like by them?

Also, is Morrissey, as a solo artist similar to The Smiths? Will I like his stuff as well?

Hardest question to answer because its your musical taste and preference.

I don't think you would

Those long drawn out jazz improvs they do on their albums are really dull.

Yeh you will, check out Hatful of Hollow or Meat is Murder. As for Morrissey's solo stuff i dont know, I'm a big Smiths fan myself and I'm not really into it.

If you like The Smit's hits I suggest getting trangeways first, it's poppier. As Moz's solo stuff, it's somewhat similar but he's definatley unique. That's up to you.

If you like hits then The Smith - The Complete Picture video is worth getting. (irregardless of youtube)

Louder Than Bombs was my favorite one of their albums, all the songs I liked on that album ended on The Sound of The Smith anyway, - I don't know if you would like the ones that didn't.

If you like The Smiths, give the band, "The Housemartins," a listen, too - if you haven't heard of them aready.

I statred with the Greatest Hits myself, now the Queen is Dead and Strangeways Here We Come are two my fave albums!
I would definitely recommend a listen regardless.

Alright, I will probably check the albums you guys suggested out. My favorite sogns from the greatest hits album are the more pop ones, like The Charming Man, Sheila Take a Bow. However there are many others that appeal to me as well. All in all I really like the whole album.
