hop along, queen ansleis is a chick (see above) named frances quinlain's solo project. her brothers are both drummers, one of whom is in Hey Hey, a band that i despise because they make horrible techno nonsense, and the other accompanies her on her debut ep "freshman year". i love her music, it's essentially folky acoustic jams with frances's pretty voice singing about silly things like bears and soup.

Definitely like what I hear, might have to catch her when she's playing with Ghost Mice who are all kinds of awesome as well.

you're seeing ghost mice? that's rad, i missed them when they came in june and i was still lame.

not bad, she represents indie music in ways i used to only believe Kimya Dawson and her system of musicians could. very nice

I've really been digging their split with Andrew Jackson Jihad, it's great.

I downloaded this album a few weeks ago and I definitely dig it. It's been getting a lot of plays.

I have a super weak spot for good female singer-songwriters so the whole full band thing kind of bums me out but, yea, Freshman Year is baller.



...oh and am I the only one who thinks the new AJJ is horrible. I haven't really heard anyone talk about it.

The full band stuff is better than I could've hoped for. It's one of my favorite albums of the year.
