Feel Like Reviving this thread,

I've been hooked on LCD Soundsystem for weeks now. Maybe 5-10 years from now, they'll have a reunion tour

He's going into acting and concentrating on the label, no signs of anything like that for the time being.

Perhaps in 5/10 but, you can never tell what will happen that far afoot.

Well I really hope they reunite. I would've given my left testicle to go see their last show

What's the word on their 'farewell' DVD? I have heard good things but I've always been more lukewarm on their music.

Surell 10-25-2012 12:05 PM

I haven't seen it, but it thrills me as a fan to be able to witness their last show and everything. I've heard their live performances are actually pretty amazing, which kind of shocked me. But the concept of the DVD too- going from this last, big bang at the MSG to taking it in the next day- sounds like good cinema alone. If only it had a Scorsese directing credit...

IDK about that, but I like them for sure.

Sound of Silver > S/T > This is Happening

I'm pretty worried about the new album to be honest. I have low expectations. The xmas song they released was bad and so were the two tracks from this album (I assume).

It seems like they are moving away from the dance aspects of their music and focusing on... I'm not sure what exactly.

Reminds me of early LCD off their first record. Really loving the output so far.

debaserr 08-16-2017 12:52 PM

Oh hell yes :)

Sorry for calling you gay, anyone who likes LCD SS as much as me is certainly not gay. Maybe trans, but not gay.

Inna Selez 08-17-2017 11:32 AM

Damn, the clip really looks like retro video.

Now that I've had 9 days to sit with the new LCD record, I can safely say it's nowhere near as good as their first three. That parts obvious, I'm sure I'm not in the minority that thinks that. I think my only gripe with it is that it sounds like a record that was recorded at Colombia. I mean, it literally sounds so pristine and glossed over that it takes away that looseness of prior records in their catalog.

With all that being said, I still enjoy it quite a bit, no particular song sounds the same and not one track do I dislike. Solid 7/10. Which is slightly disappointing. But still a good album.

Trollheart 09-09-2017 10:29 AM

Check the Random Album Club thread. Un-****ing-believable. I swear it was a random pick.

Anyhoo, I got to about half of the new album. Kind of a letdown to be honest. Stylistically it sounds like the b-side of Sound of silver, they don't seem to have progressed much in the last 3 years. I can change is pretty much All my friends.

Will give it a few more chances...I guess...:\

So basically, what I've concluded after having re-listened to This is happening and also having played American Dream a few times is that they were never really a band of great innovation so it's pointless to fault them for it. Their whole schtick was to regurgitate all of their various influences in a new package and all of their albums are pretty much a continuation of the same story. And so, all of them are very listenable, if a tad repetitive, but at least they haven't and probably will never make a misstep like Arcade fire did with Everything now. And that's fine.
