Nah...I think it's really good but don't like it quite as much as The Shins' stuff.

I really feel the first two songs are the weakest and half the time when I think of putting on the album, they deter me and I reach for something else. But it's otherwise solid...I just have to strongly disagree with your statement. Opinions though...

After the first couple of listens, I would have probably agreed with you but as time went by (merely weeks, really) I found myself going back to listening to The Shins if I felt in a James Mercer mood. I find the album is really good and solid but forgettable!

Their album is one of the most average things I've ever heard. There's certainly nothing bad about it, but it doesn't interest me at all aside from "Sailing To Nowhere"

This album frustrates me because I see a lot of potential but it seems like it needed some more time, maybe their next album will be live up to its potential if it ever comes out.

I spent nine years sticking to a particular band as being my 'favorite'. A month into listening to Broken Bells caught them up with the nine year strand for the other band, if that tells you anything.

Their first album was phenomenal. Best I had heard from any new band in years. Then Meyrin Fields was fantastic as well.

A+++.

Big fan of The Shins too. James Mercer is a genious.

Broken Bells is one of my favorite albums. Didn't really get the average reviews.
