I've messed around in some math rock, not a whole lot, but of what I've heard, Battles' Mirrored and Lightning Bolt's Wonderful Rainbow are my favorites.
|
If math rock musicians don't like the term "math rock," then what term would they prefer? (If one at all)
|
Not sure if this is exactly Math Rock, but it's awesome, so I'm posting it anyways. |

I am surprised many haven't heard of this Irish band:
The album 'Red in Tooth and Claw' is well worth a listen. |
Slint - Spiderland
Drive Like Jehu - Yank Crimes Polvo - Today's Active Lifestyles Faraquet/Akarso - Split Faraquet - The View from this Tower Rodan - Rusty U.S. Maple - Talker Shellac - At Action Park Dazzling Killmen - Face of Collapse June of 44 - Four Great Points Smart Wet Crazy - Con Art some that came to mind off the bat. Some are hand in hand with post-hardcore and noise rock. But all great albums. |
Our First American Friends by Tubelord is my favorite math rock album bar none. They even did an acoustic version of the whole album
Can't wait for the follow-up |

Btw, you do realise there's One For The Grandparents too right? The EPs are good as well. |
yeah I referred to For the Grandparents (acoustic version of OFAM) and I do dig the EPs. If you honestly intend to tell them that then that'd be awesome :)
