Best Indie Band Country?

Which country do you think has the best indie music right now.

My vote goes to Sweden.

Urban Hat€monger ? 07-21-2010 06:35 PM

want to explain why you think that?

You seem in an awful hurry to want to get to 15 posts.

TheElectricSlug 07-21-2010 06:43 PM

Well, #1 is because I am Swedish. #2 is because I like the current Swedish indie scene.

And I guess #3 would be to spark some debate and hear about other countries with good music. And discuss which ones have the best music. Isn't that the point of a forum?

I do like the swedish indie scene...a lot of good bands. Lacrosse, Sambassadeur, The Tallest Man On Earth, Love Is All etc. I love them all, but I still can't help but love the American and Canadian Indie bands more.

per capita? sweden/iceland/scotland get my votes... of course us/canada win by sheer numbers...

Zer0 07-22-2010 05:11 PM

My vote goes to Nepal.

Definitely Canada. I haven't thought about this, but when I saw this thread I went through my Last.fm and my internal library and found that most of them were from Canada, a few from the US, and one from Australia. It makes since that Canada would have a lot of indie music, I suppose.

North Korea.
Would the OP care to name Swedish bands of interest?

Sneer 07-23-2010 10:31 AM

The Guatemalan Indie-Pop scene is quite something at the moment.

*Probably America, most of my favourite Indie bands are yanks. Canada and the UK deserve a strong mention too.

Zer0 07-23-2010 10:42 AM

Seriously, at the moment it's definitely the USA followed by Canada. I don't know whether it's me but the UK seems to be asleep at the moment, there seems to be very few interesting new indie bands coming out of the UK in the past couple of years. Per capita though Iceland has an incredible DIY indie music scene.

Stone Birds 07-25-2010 03:25 PM

well i would say america but america doesn't have a true music scene, it's better to look at the 5 main areas of america or just the states individually.

but if i had to say a country in specific it'd probably be scotland, and my reason is i LOVE the scottish accent

Laurent Quinn Proper 07-26-2010 12:50 AM

Canada. Reason being most of my favorite bands are Canadian.

TheCunningStunt 07-26-2010 12:57 AM

Usa! Usa! Usa!

There's a really good scene in the UK at the moment I think, it just hasnt become that widely exposed yet. It is Indie in the purest sense of the word. Bands like Fair Ohs, Munch Munch, PENS, Graffiti Island, Race Horses, Spectrals, Lets Wrestle, Cold Pumas, Male Bonding, Peepholes, Pheromoans, Wetdog etc are all putting out interesting stuff. I do prefer American and Canadian acts at the moment, but it is there and pretty vibrant if you have a little delve.

I really like Travis...but I'm not sure if they're alternative rock or indie/country......love their song "My eyes"

MusicForEveryone 08-04-2010 03:52 PM

Given that AMA Hits is an indie music website, I see that there are a lot of good indie bands/musicians from all over the world. There are a few from the UK and Canada that stick out in my mind.

Alfred 08-04-2010 04:25 PM

I'm definitely going to give this one to Canada.
