Broadcast - RIP Trish

I'm fucking devastated. Awful news.

It's never too late to colour me in.. RIP Trish Keenan | The Spectator

So young.

That is really sad. I only have one of their albums, but she really had a fantastic voice.

Not going to pretend to be a massive fan but I liked them and it's always sad to see people dying so young.

At one point Broadcast were making better Stereolab albums than Stereolab.

Yes, I'd agree. Stereolab in the mid-90s were quite untouchable, but I've enjoyed Broadcast's releases more than Stereolab's in the 00s.

I'm a massive fan of Broadcast though, and this is so sad. She was only 42 as well... I missed the chance to see them live in Glasgow a year or so ago, as I was working the night of the gig. Thought I'd get another chance to see 'em, though... I'm truly gutted about this. RIP.

HOLY **** WHAT??

Wow, I'm seriously depressed now. Broadcast are one of my favorite psych bands....

Pneumonia? Wow. This is probably the most shocking musician death that's happened recently for me. She has one of my favorite voices of all time. I'm gonna play some Broadcast now in tribute...

RIP, Trish

**** I was seriously looking forward to their next album.

I find that part of it kind of scary as I'm just finally recovering from a month-long bout of pneumonia myself.

Glad you pulled through!

Sad news here...even though I don't listen to Broadcast. I've known of them for a long time just never got inspired to listen beyond a few clips. RIP.

What a shock. Horrible news. Tomorrow shall officially be Broadcast day for me.

Man I just heard about this, this really sucks she had such a beautiful and haunting voice. I'll miss it. RIP Trish.

I know this thread is old and was created right after news of Trish's death, but I haven't found any other threads that really celebrate Broadcast, a favorite band of mine. I was gutted when Trish passed in 2011. I have all their albums, including their collaboration with Julian House/The Focus Group. In 2016, I heard faint rumors online that James Cargill from Broadcast might be working on their posthumous album and release it in 2016 or early 2017, but apparently they're only rumors, not based in truth. Broadcast were working on an album prior to Trish's passing, but I don't think the public will get to hear any of it.

I still feel a lot of sadness when I am reminded of her death. "Tears in the Typing Pool" plays on a loop in my mind some days..
Lots of clever artists working in vintage electronics but none have touched the timeless sense of melody and arrangement in Broadcast

Came across their Tender Buttons album recently and really enjoyed it. Sad to read she had passed away.

They were a rare occurrence of a band that slipped completely under my music radar when they were around. I stumbled upon their debut album 'The Noise Made by People' several years ago and was blown away by it. I've since heard everything they recorded and I thoroughly enjoy all of it. Can't figure out how I didn't find out about them when they were recording and playing live shows. I would've loved to have gone to one of their live gigs when they were touring.

Very sad.........

I've been listening to Arc Of A Journey a lot in the past couple of months.
The themes of insignificance and inevitability, with this beautiful imagery of her singing as a spacecraft carrying a memory of lost humanity... trying to explain it really does it injustice.
