I have the M83 album , it`s kind of like Mogwai but with electronica

Kevin Shields is now in Primal Scream & has been working on a solo album since 1994 , he did the soundtrack to some film a while ago but i`ve not heard it.My Bloody Valentine are OK but Loveless is massivly overrated.

Devandra Banheart is a wonderful singer/songwriter, not breaking any musical boundaries or anything but bizarrely incredibly pleasant to listen to, real honest lyrics and twee, reminds me of early Badly Drawn Boy. M83 yeah they're cool, they do have that whole Silver Mt Zion/Mogwai thing going on.

I don't know anything about the mystery jets or engineers, what are they like?

love the way banhart uses no studio equipment at all in his work(except the last album which uses a few overdubs). just music in its purest form. hes more of a storyteller than a lyricist to me. and also, he used to be a tramp- fair play to him.

engineers have an ambient, spiritualized form of alternative rock going on. id advice you check out home.
the mystery jets are a very basic electro band- a good song of theirs is zoom time.

See, I told ya, Badly Drawn Boy. I didn't even know that either. Yeah I like bands that don't use too much studio equipment, nothing better than home-recorded 4 track album. The Moldy Peaches actually done that and their phone rang right in the middle of a song, and they started laughing, but they just kept it in. It sounds so cool that way.

If you like that & given your love of all things 70s you should check out some of Brian Eno`s stuff. I`d recommend starting off with Here Come The Warm Jets & Taking Tiger Mountain as your first port of call.

M83 is pretty good. I usually listen to their Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts album when I want to go to sleep. Usually with noise bands you either hate them or love them.
