I just listen to things throughout the year and use RYM to sort them. Waiting until December is going to make your workload ridiculous. I can't keep on top of things as it is and I listen to 3 or 4 new releases a week.

Duran Duran's ALL You Need is Now is a MAJOR disappointment.

(although it was released in december last year on itunes)

Snowman's "Absence" has been one of my favorites album of this year, and I feel that it has been criminally overlooked. I'm probably not getting the genres all right on it, but it's a really sweet psychedelic, tribal-influenced, ambient, electronic kind of alt-rock album. Definitely worth checking out if any of those words interest you.

This has slipped under my radar. The Horse, the Rat and the Swan is excellent, so based on that I'll be checking this out.

Explain though what you mean by individual lists.

By individual lists I mean lists of best albums of the year by an individual, rather than consensus lists of albums which get the most votes from a large group of people.

I liked Jamie Woon's Mirrorwriting a great deal. I'm about to listen to the new Bon Iver release.
