Zola Jesus

Powerful female vocals backed by minimalist instrumentation. The mood is generally dark, although not always depressing - at times it's uplifting, if in a subtle way. There's a definite gothic influence, but it's not overbearing. If you like Chelsea Wolfe, you'd be well served listening to the following two tracks.

Really enjoyed Stridulum, and Conatus was pretty good too. I'm a fan.

She's great. I think I found her through the related videos on YouTube (the album art really had me interested), added some of her vids to my favorites, and then rediscovered her recently. I was surprised to see how much the views have jumped. I'm quite glad. She deserves the attention.

She's OK-decent background music, I totally don't get the Chelsea Wolfe comparison though. I personally don't hear any similarity other than they're both female vocalists, if anything she sounds more like a darker Florence and the machine.

Huh, I think both artists are similar in mood. Both have the sort of dark, unsettling, almost gothic vibe.
