Default Is it me or does shoegaze....

Just makes you feel one emotion? Every single song EXCLUSIVELY makes me feel bittersweet. I'm pretty sure thats what all shoegaze pretty much is. That bittersweet feeling. It can make albums quite boring aswell, even though it is probably my favourite "sound".

Ofcourse not every single song is like this. There are exceptions like Only Shallow by MBV, which is just demonic. But also my favourite shoegaze song:

A good portion of shoegaze does make me bittersweet. But hey that's one of the reasons why I love it so much, it gets that feeling across to me more effectively than most other styles of music. Likewise other musical styles are better at making me feel other emotions than shoegaze. It's my favourite emotion to feel from listening to music and also from watching films.

As you've mentioned not every single song is like that, and 'The Perfect Needle' is a good example (The Telescopes are fucking awesome by the way). But here's an example of a tune that has a frustrated and angry mood:

Try listening to some Bailterspace, they don't make me feel bittersweet.

While those are true, I think its important to differentiate 'full on' shoegaze and shoegaze elements with indie rock. Full on shoegaze albums like Ride's Nowhere or Galaxie 500's On Fire is where the conventionally bittersweet emotions come from in every song down the album.

Fair enough, to be honest I've only really listened to a lot of Indie Rock rather than full on shoegaze. Is there any artists you recommend?

If it's important to differentiate then it should be worth noting that Galaxie 500 didn't really have anything to do with shoegaze at the time and that songs on Nowhere such as 'Seagull' and 'Kaleidoscope' don't exactly fit the description of bittersweet.
