Default Does anyone else feel...

Like Coldplay are the critics darlings and they are getting much more hype for an album with no digression from the original template. I saw a review that said "if they release 5 more albums like this they'll be dismantling Atomic Bombs."

First of all, At least U2 changes things up a bit, but if they aren't the epitome of over hyped critical acclaim whores, then I've clearly missed what band is.

Perhaps this is my agenda against them but if I have to focus to figure out where certain instruments are in the mish mash of noise, then I figure whatever you are playing was that good in the first place.

Am I alone?

I`ve felt like that about them since I first heard them in 1999.

I almost feel that back then some faceless record company exec decided Coldplay were going to be the next big thing & ever since then it`s been a constant barrage of airplay ,TV & people falling over themselves to say how great they are.

Personally I think they`re one of the dullest bands i`ve ever heard

Coldplay are what music critics want music to be: overproduced cathartic garbage

You are so not alone.

I knew U2 and Coldplay would be all over these Live 8 concerts around the world too. Damn they piss me off.

It just goes to show that if you get enough media coverage then you're going to be big.
I think U2 is the most successful ROCK band out right now.
I mean I tried to name some that might beat them but there weren't any.
As for Coldplay....I would say Chris Martin has a unique voice, or it could just be the English accent I'm not used to.
Although he has to be unique to name his child Apple, ****ing whacko.

Third Grade
Kid: Hey what's your name?
Apple: Apple.
Kid: Apple????
Apple: Yeah, my dad said it meant magic in ancient Indian culture...
Kid: What's that thing you have?
Apple: The pet plastic bag my dad gave me and named Moon, it means tree in Hungarian.
Kid: Get the **** away from me.

Sadly, it would be funnier if it wasn't true.

you people are so full of shit...coldplay is huge because they're great, not because they're overhyped, overhypeing might help a band in the begining but people usualy pick up on the fact that they're not good and then they fail miserably...the fact that coldplay's x&y is the most expected album of the year and is number one on amazon.com and .co.uk in presales means the FANS can't wait for it to come out...(the'yre not buying it because the media says it's going to be good, but rather we ( the fans ) think that it's going to be great on the basis of the previous two albums, if we ( the people who buy music) thought the first two albums sucked we shure as hell wouldn't be buying this one...)
so to sum it up, there is no amount of media coverage that could help a band that's not really good...
