Are you sure it wasn't a little more than that? It's like someone took a tent peg, jabbed it into both of his ear canals and jiggled it around a bit, just to make sure there's no chance he could come out of it without being at least tone-deaf.

He got really torn up over the harsh reviews Pinkerton got (wasn't appreciated til years later), it being his most personal album. After that I think his flair for writing emotional stuff was gone.

Like others have said, losing a very underrated bassist in Matt Sharp didn't help either...

Similar to what others seem to be saying I really think early weezer is excellent. Pinkerton is one of my favourite albums (of all time). It's just sad whenever I see they have a new release now... whats worse is that I still get it and I'm always let down.

Pinkerton was a great album, after that i think the albums have been steadily getting worse

BY FAR their best albums were blue and pinkerton. So much rawer, dare I say grunge-r? Anyway, I own both of them and nothing they did after that can hold a candle to those first two albums.
