All this praise for the Arctic Monkeys album. I dont get it.
I think the album AM works best if you don’t expect it to define another decade - in fact, if you don’t expect anything at all.
6/10. |
I agree. Overhyped, over-rated, and not a patch on their previous stuff.
|
My personal opinion is that they stop being great after their first album...

Are you kidding me? AM is one of their best. 'R U Mine' and 'Do I Wanna Know' lead the way as the popular songs on AM. However, I believe the best songs are 'Knee Socks' and 'Snap Out Of It'. AM must be the most clever album from the lads.

I don't get all the hate that this album gets. It's a good album. No, it's not as good as their first two but it's not that far from it either. I really like it.

I don't know if I'm the only when , but the first listen was absolutely bad , but when I gave it another shot it was way better , i couldn't help it but crying to the song Mad Sounds, though it's supposed to be a happy sound . Old albums are better I give you that , but to say that AM is bad is definitely not righteous , so let's just say that the album was fine .

The best song on the album is the cover of "War Pigs"...

Wasn't grabbed by the new singles at all so haven't bothered to give AM a listen yet, I loved WYTIATWIN, Favourite Worst Nightmare and Suck It And See, but was indifferent about Humbug.
|
I love it
I personally love this band. Just because they're becoming way more popular doesn't mean they suck.
|
I think they haven't made a "bad" album yet. Not heard their latest but the single is pretty good.

AM is one of their best.

They where overrated at the beginning but they keep writing beautiful songs after some years... So i think they deserve our attention

They're older now a little more cultured and some of that raw youth has now grown as it always does and people want to feel the original energy back and get way too critical. |
AM is an amazing album. I feel they have taken the darker sonics from the Humbug album, the more melodious singing from Suck It And See, combined it with the storytelling nature of Whatever The People Say I Am... and made their best album. I think all their work stands the test of time. I saw them live at Earls Court and it is interesting to note how the slower songs sound more reflective of them at their current time. I mean yes, the crowd went mental for "I Bet You Look Good...", but that song almost sounds like it's from a different band. It is well worth the hype that has been lavished upon it in my opinion!
