Autolux

hard hitting, electronic influenced blues band that play their instruments to the optimum intensity. check out "turnstile blues" for a good insight into what their about. jolly good stuff.

DidierD 06-22-2005 02:28 PM

I've only heared 'Here Comes Everybody' by them and dont know much about them but its promising... any web links? or do i have to get off my arse and google it?

Sweet Jane 06-23-2005 02:31 PM

I just found the whole Future Perfect album on my computer and I've never listened to it!

Man I need a clear out! Gonna check that out now, defo like Here Comes Everybody, which reminds me of the britpop era for some reason.

hookers with machineguns 06-23-2005 02:56 PM

These guys are pretty good, I likes. Didier, I briefly tried to look for some mp3 links online, couldn't find any. Then again, I didn't really try hard.

adidasss 06-23-2005 03:23 PM

i'm downloading turnstile blues at the mo, and from what i've heard this is some great shit....BITCH ASS DRUMS..but then again i'm a sucker for the drums and bass...if it's true what you said and this is a good indication of what they're like, this might just be the best thing you've suggested...good on ya mate (i love how i've started to use english and australian frases since i'm on this forum even though i speak with an american accent...funny...)

adidasss 06-24-2005 12:40 PM

ehmmm...i wouldn't exactly call this blues...at least not this song..

PopIsDead 06-29-2005 09:29 PM

Autolux is a great band. I have most of the songs off of Future Perfect but I'm missing a few.

IndiElectronica 08-05-2005 07:25 AM

on my list to buy :)

The Indie Bar Kid 08-09-2005 10:00 AM

Oh yeah what a rhythm section... She makes Meg White look like a stiff boring doll with no rhythm (Yeah OK I do realize we dont need Autolux for that)... Their first single was fantastic especially that break into #Shake shake shake the stars out# line. Getting the album tomorow and I cannae wait

Autolux

Please, please, please tell me someone else on this board digs this band? These guys are so talented and they are HEAVY live. Saw them twice when they opened for QOTSA and NIN a couple of years ago. Cannot wait for their next album. Their debut album, Future Perfect is pretty much damn perfect. Any fans of the 90's band Failure would really like them. Which is funny because one of the members of Autolux used to be in Failure.

Great effing band.

vintage lace 11-30-2007 12:34 PM

Excellent band. Future Perfect is a great album and to see them open for QOTSA and NIN would have been amazing. I'm so jealous! I read that Carla has contributed to Jubilee's debut album, which should be interesting. Hopefully the new record will be out soon.

O'Bannion 12-01-2007 08:14 AM

I heard they've been done with the record. But their debut album took over a year to mix, it's looks like they're going down that road again.

Zer0 12-14-2007 07:46 AM

I have one of their tracks from 2005 on a compilation at home. Must dig it out and have another listen. :)

British_pharaoh 12-14-2007 09:20 AM

i got their Future perfect album

its ok

Farfisa 01-21-2009 03:04 PM

I have "Future Perfect" and it's been a recent favorite, I had a couple of people ask me for the link to it after they heard "Turnstyle Blues" on that shoegaze comp.

Sneer 01-21-2009 03:07 PM

I think Future Perfect is superb, i reviewed it in this thread if you're interested in it, i can up

To be honest, without future perfect I'd probably be ignorant of the whole shoegaze genre. Here's praise for Autolux and hope that Transit Transit builds from the original rather than falling short. [;

jackhammer 03-30-2009 03:34 AM

Future Perfect is not just a great shoegaze album, it's a great guitar album full stop.

Piss Me Off 03-30-2009 04:31 AM

I'm pretty turned onto them after listening to the shoegaze comp, going to have to investigate further...

Farfisa 06-07-2011 09:19 PM

What does everyone think of their newish album? It came out last year, but I've heard no mention of it on the boards except from me. "Supertoys" is a pretty good song, but I think "Transit Transit" doesn't match up to "Future Perfect".

BastardofYoung 06-07-2011 09:32 PM

Really only know of this band cause Greg Edwards was in Failure. But have yet to listen to anything by them.

Zer0 06-08-2011 05:29 AM

I mentioned the album a bit when it was released and included it in my best of 2010 list.

It's a really good album but just not as good as Future Perfect. I was slightly disappointed on its release but I did have my expectations too high in all fairness especially after having to wait years for the album. I did grow to love it though and it has no shortage of great tunes such as 'Census' and 'The Bouncing Wall' among others. Although Transit Transit is a little bit more experimental it does kind of lack the edge of Future Perfect.

I'm hoping we don't have to wait as long for the follow-up!

I agree. The latest is nowhere near as good but it is a grower. Future Perfect was produced by T Bone Burnett and I think that definitely added a heavier dynamic absent from Transit Transit.

supermarlin 06-10-2011 05:31 PM

Downloaded Future Perfect last night, it's pretty good, will probably give the latest album a listen sometime soon.

I second this, verbatim

First listen I felt like it wasn't up to the standard of the first but it has definitely grown on me with subsequent listens.

New Autolux song 'Soft Scene', new album coming in the spring.

prisoner437x3y0 12-04-2015 06:47 PM

just started future perfect thanks for the thread, so far enjoying it

Zer0 01-27-2016 03:42 PM

Judging by 'Soft Scene' and 'Change My Head', the new album is going to be dreamier and more mellow than their previous material.
