Superconductor

I kind of randomly stumbled upon the debut EP from these guys the other day while looking for something else. Not sure if anyone here is familiar with them but they were a pretty damn good raw and wild alternative-type band from Vancouver back in the early 90s featuring the dude from the New Pornographers. Great stuff. Here's that whole debut EP:

Edit: I'm listening to this right now and I have to say I love the vocals. Just such a perfect fit with the music.

No replies, eh? Did I turn people off with the A-word? Or do you just have something against Canadians?

Whatever it is, seriously, give at least the first track of the Heavy with Puppy EP (posted above) a listen if you dig Unsane or the loud parts of Husker Du, the Pixies or Sonic Youth. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I already mentioned the vocals, but the guitars here are beasts of riffs and distortion, the bass is muscular and hardcore-ish, and the drums are just fantastic. I don't know who this drummer was but damn did he or she have some intensity and a surprising amount of complexity for such raw music.

You can't use "alternative" and "90's" in the same post and expect people to take you seriously. Know better next time.

I'll check this EP out :)

Well, it's better than "alternative" and "00's" in the same post. Alright people: Superconductor were a high-energy, noisy indie rock band. Please give them a chance now.

Yes I do remember them, I was starting to play in bands and get involved in live sound when they were around, but never got into them or crossed paths.

I was relatively a junior to the music/bar scene when they were big, so they were most likely doing sets with established bands that were popular in Vancouver at the time, Smugglers, ect.

Thanks though, brings me back to the days when Vancouver was a trashy port city with a burgeoning music scene. Sigh gentrification ruins everything.
