You could be right, but autotune has been around for a really long time. its first proper use was on that CHer record in the 90's and its usage has just got bigger and bigger. Its been in use for nearly 20 years now. A lot of indie/alternative bands use it in a subtle way to make vocals sound more in tune but not as an obvious effect like some rappers/singers do. Will it go away? Well it hasnt yet....
