Default Violent Femmes

I just wanted to know if there are any bands out there that sound like these guys' first album. I picked it up when the 20th anniversary edition came out a couple of years back and it became an instant favourite of mine.
Kiss Off, To The Kill and Add It Up are like sonic crack.

uh.. uh... good question.... I think there are some similarities with They Might Be Giants, Camper Van Beethoven and even Pixies...

Seen them a few times, last time being at ATP last winter and they went over like a ton of bricks. First off people in the UK hardly know who they are and 2 of their first songs were very 'I love god' type lyrics... I still enjoyed singing along to their classics though for sure

Oldschool Modest Mouse reminds me of Violent Femmes in a very offhand way.
