Default Wet Leg

Didn't see a thread, apologies if I've missed something.

Apparently this song is blowing up by I don't quite no why. I love the music but the lyrics make me hate music. Can one of you young hip kids translate?

Sounds like someone with a genuie concern for quality of other people's muffins getting a degree for a job in an Ikea...a tale as old as time itself

I love the rhythm section for this lot. They've got some other great tunes as well that I've heard here and there.

Yes the rhythm section is nice and the lyrics are fun. What's not to like?

LOL.
Yep, they're also clearly exploring one of the great historical dilemmas: once you've bought your chaise-longue, what do you do on it?

I thought it was an intriguing video and a fun song, though I think I'd soon get irritated with that excessive deadpan repetition. Still, a thread should be about more than one song, and I enjoyed Chaise Longue enough to find another Wet Leg song:-

Apart from its over-long intro scene, I think I enjoyed this one more tbh. (Plus, Great title!)

This is my problem. It reminded me of "Bandages" by The Hot Hot Heat.

Hey look, I have to start them somewhere, and I see more political posts these days than music posts.

Did my comment sound like a criticism? That wasn't my intention!

This was a new band, new song for me, so thanks for that.

And here's a song from Dry Cleaning that also features flat, random lyrics. These ones sound like snippets of real dialogue and aren't too repetitive, so I prefer them to Wet Leg's Chaise Long:-

Translate ? Why bother, it’s no more than puerile drivel.

Mommy, daddy, look at me
I went to school and I got a degree
All my friends call it "the big D"
I went to school and I got the big D
I got the big D
I got the big D
I got the big D
I went to school and I got the big D
Is your muffin buttered?
Would you like us to assign someone to butter your muffin?
Excuse me (what?)
Excuse me (what?)
Hey you, over there
On the chaise longue in your underwear
What are you doing sitting down?
You should be horizontal now
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
Is your mother worried?
Would you like us to assign someone to worry your mother?
Excuse me (what?)
Excuse me (what?)
Hey you, in the front row
Are you coming backstage after the show?
Because I've got a chaise longue in my dressing room
And a pack of warm beer that we can consume
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, on the chaise longue, on the chaise longue
All day long, on the chaise longue
All day long, all day long, on the chaise longue
All day long, all day long, on the chaise longue
All day long, all day long, on the chaise longue
On the chaise longue, all day long, on the chaise longue

Never heard of this group. Just listened to the song and I like it, especially the lyrics. A lot of layers and meaning to unpack here. I've always wanted someone to assign someone to worry my mother while I consume a pack of warm beer.

Hot Hot Heat is good!

As for this Wet Leg group, I'm reading hype too. I have yet to listen to their stuff. I'll try to get to them in the morning. Seeing the capture in Ur Mom, I'm reminded of the show Two Broke Girls.

I like it but not quite as good as the indie pop perfection that is Wet Dream.
