Would your Mom be able to sue the Rottweilers'' owners? There may be laws about keeping dogs leashed outside of the yard.

Yeah, I mean, she could. My grandmother decided not to pursue that - in her words, what good would it really do? It won't bring her dog back.

There are local laws about keeping dogs leashed - the owners were fined $75 for not having the dogs leashed, and another $75 for the dog attacking another dog.

I'd at least consult a good lawyer, but I can understand the sense of helplessness and wanting to just get through the emotional devastation without dragging it out.

I don't understand why people with one of the quote unquote aggressive breeds would even risk their dog needing to be put down by letting them go unleashed. Even if your dog isn't remotely aggressive, that stigma does exist, and your dog is a target for it. Why take the risk? ****ty owners.

Yeah, I encouraged the idea, but my grandmother and Mom have decided to go another way. The owners have paid for everything related to it since then. He's expressed nothing but remorse apparently. I don't know, the situation still pisses me off, but it's my parents neighbors who they're somewhat friendly with. It wasn't their neighbor's dogs though - it was one of their kids, who was visiting for the weekend and brought their dogs with them.

My condolences. Losing a pet sucks. Having to see it on the decline makes it so much worse.

I'm so sorry Charles, what a nightmarish and upsetting way to lose a pet. Rip poor Roger, and hugs to you and your mom

Well after the dog died the last cat in the house passed away as well. He was a crazy **** who never let me pet him until days before his death but he was certainly a character even if I never got to bond with him.

Now we've adopted two older cats (6 and 8 years old) who are a handsome mother****er (Little John) and a beautiful queen respectively and they are the sweetest babies but the former was "raised" in what sounds like a negligent cat sanctuary where his lack of socialization makes him shy of getting within three feet of people but an absolute cuddle bug if you're four feet away. The latter is a skittish baby who loves scratches but was rescued from an actual literal dumpster fire and gets scared easily (no name so far besides Dumpster Fire Cat).

I love them both already but they are currently hiding. Eventually their tummies will be mine and pictures shall be forthcoming.

I'm looking forward to it. Sorry about the old cat :(

SGR 08-30-2022 06:05 PM

May I suggest Dumpy? Dumpalina? Dumpella?

You'll figure out a good name I'm sure.

Sorry about your old cat. Blessed be that feline's heart. I love cats. I've got one of my own and he's nothing but trouble. Until he's fed, that is.
