Ello I've been lurking for awhile and figured I'd join. Usually, people stop there and then have to be asked what bands they like, but I'll go ahead and post mine:
Sufjan Stevens
Iron & Wine
Andrew Bird
Dashboard Confessional
Joey Cape
Ben Folds
Bright Eyes
Cocoon

So I guess I'm mostly into folky singer-songwriter stuff. :wave:

Not everyone will like Elliott Smith, I still can't get into him because of all the hype, same thing with Radiohead.

How can the hype affect the actual quality of the music though?

ooh dac heard Radiohead and had to comment ;). But seriously though I have to agree with him. Just because a band doesn't live up to the hype they get shouldn't mean that makes them not good.
