What a good introduction consists of.

Okay I have seen that there are alot of newbies that just post an introduction that says something like "he guys i'm new" and they don't list any bands or any bio about them selves. I've seen moderators getting irritated about this(especially Tore). So here is the basic introduction layout.

1. Post a little bio about yourself.(Age,Birthday,Favorite genre,Favortie bands,Hobbys,What you do in your spare time,ect.ect.)

2. How did you find MusicBanter?(Who refered you weather it be a friend,Website, or you just came across MusicBanter while searching for music.)

3. Set up you introduction so it looks good. Remember HTML is your friend. Bold, Italics, and colour make for a pretty introduction and make people know that you aren't just going to spam the site.

So I will post a little "Sample" introduction to show what it should look like.

Hi guys! My name is Joe. I'm 15 years old, I'm turning 16 on september 3. The things I like to do in my spare time would be listen to music, write music and songs, hang out with friends, chat on AIM,skateboard and many many other things. My favorite genre of music would be Hardcore/Deathcore anything with a CORE basically! The bands I listen to would be Heaven Shall Burn, Suicide Silence, Chalora, At The Gates, All That Remains, Waking The Cadaver and many MANY more! I came across MusicBanter when I was searching for good music on Google! I hope to stay on MusicBanter!!!!
~!~JOE~!~

Thats what a basic introduction should look like. It can be longer or shorter. It can contain WHATEVER you want it is YOUR introduction. This is simply showing what an introduction consists of for the people that are maybe puzzled on what they should put in their introduction.

AND by the way!!!! Welcome to MusicBanter!:thumb:

Sticky?

Sneer 05-01-2009 07:50 AM

Sort your writing out and maybe they will. Seriously dude, you cant go giving people advice with spelling mistakes like 'faveorite', they just wont take you seriously. Apart from the grammar issues it's a decent thread. I realise this is the second time i've called you out, im not picking on you, it's simply the case that i've stumbled across two of your threads and both have been ropey. Think of it as constructive criticism :)

You spelt introduction wrong

coryallen2 05-01-2009 07:58 AM

I feel smart. Hmmm is there any way I can edit the title?

coryallen2 05-01-2009 08:00 AM

Alrighty it's fixed

Urban Hat€monger ? 05-01-2009 08:45 AM

The whole point of an introduction thread is that people can introduce themselves however they like. I don't see the point in having a thread that basically patronises people by stating the obvious before they've even posted. So no , I'm not going to sticky it.

coryallen2 05-01-2009 08:48 AM

It's not patronising to that extent of you have to it this way or no way. I'm simply saying that if people had an example to work off of they would get the "concept" of a good review.

Maybe the last part where it says it should'nt be any shorter is a bit much so ill take that out.

Urban Hat€monger ? 05-01-2009 08:49 AM

People already know what a bloody introduction is.

For the love of God stop posting.

coryallen2 05-01-2009 08:50 AM

>.<

Why does everyone try to argue and not try to see where I'M coming from.

I think people just need something to go on. If they know how to make an intro they won't read it. If they do they will.

Because Cory there comes a point when you've posted everything you can think of in a day and after you've hit that you begin to start posting for the sake of posting & just fill threads up with rubbish and bad ideas ,you hit that point hours ago and this bad idea is a result of that.
Go outside , go on a bike ride or something , read a book. Just ANYTHING other than filling up this forum with posts that just state the obvious and annoying people with it.

coryallen2 05-01-2009 08:57 AM

>.< Urban you seem to be the only one on here that ever shoots down my ideas. I have had good ideas on here, and if you have'nt read my introduction you need to cause I said I won't be posting "just to post" anymore. I can honestly say that I thought this was a good idea.

We'd shoot them down too, but Urban seems to have the quickest trigger finger.
Considering how many of your "ideas" seem to pop up all over the place, maybe he would welcome some help with the shooting.

But seriously man, before posting an idea, run it by a mod via PM.
Apparently someone needs to tell you when your ideas are good or not, so you may as well get the input before expending the effort.

sidewinder 05-06-2009 02:55 PM

A good introduction...should not consist of arguing with mods and trying to force an idea. :)
