Introducing Rainfall... yes I talk in third-person

Hey everyone. I stumbled on here on accident, and I'm glad I did. Been wanting to find a cool music forum.
I'm from Portland, Oregon, I'm 18, and I love music with an intensity that can only be described as unhealthy. I have played guitar for three years or so and hope to share some music when I get my bearings on here. I obsess myself with bands such as Floater, Tool, Metallica (before they took a dive), Led Z (all day long), The Who, The Beatles, Perfect Circle, Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, Primus, RHCP, Rush, and on some days, Between the Buried and Me, HORSE the Band, Ministry, Psychostick and Nine Inch Nails.
I have a question regarding where would be acceptable place to put lyrics/poems. I currently have them under Song Writing, Lyrics, Ect, but was curious if the MB Reader was better, or no?

Thanks all,
~Rainfall

Put it in the song writing and poetry thread, that stuff doesn't go in the MB reader. Three years of guitar and a bunch of guitar-player bands, but no FZ? Anywho, welcome to musicbanter. =)

One reason I'm sticking around is for the pure diversity of genres here. I was raised in a strictly 'rock' house (thanksfully my father didn't raise me, he listens to Brintey Spears and crap like that), so hopefully I can broaden my horizons here.
So what, pray tell, is the MB Reader for?

The MB Reader is for Member Journals, Editor's Picks, Reviews..ect you can see it all for yourself really. All posts made in those forums have to get approval from a mod before they're visible to the rest of the forum, so I doubt you want to post your stuff there.

Noted. Thanks for the clarification.

Welcome, nice list of bands you have there. You will be a welcome addition to the Rock/Metal forum.

Rainfall 08-26-2009 11:04 PM

Thank you. I hope to add many new bands to the list, hopefully some that branch out a bit more.
A big reason for my being here is for critque of my songs/poems and such, though. But perhaps I'll get sucked into the vortex that is MusicBanter, I dunno.

Generally, you won't get any attention for your stuff unless you are sucked into the vortex.

Even then, most people don't come here to read poetry....

That's what I'm afraid of. What's it take to get some criticism around here? Would I have better luck posting actual songs? Not really what I came here for, but oh well.

I guess it's into the vortex I go. Maybe a Tool discography review? I could do Tool reviews in my sleep.

Hi, Rainfall,
Welcome to MB. I am one of the people who spends most of my MB time in the songwriting section (Artists' Corner) and I enjoy reading people's work and giving feedback. My reason: I like the process of creating music more than simply listening to the final product. I especially like to hear people's works-in-progress.

You asked about how best to give people a chance to hear your recordings. My preference is when MB members have their MySpace listed in their contact information (in their profile) so that I can click on that and go directly to all their recorded songs.

I know there are some avid Tool fans on MB so I bet many people would enjoy reading your comments about Tool.

Again, welcome!
