Hi everyone, I'm new here!

...But not new in any other way.

I live near Cambridge, England and I'm 50-something and a grandad.

Musical highlights of my life are seeing Floyd in 72, Yes & Genesis many times between '72 & 76. Reading festival in '74, Alex Harvey & Hawkwind.

More recently I have seen bands like Nightwish, Lacuna Coil and less well known Magenta, Mostly Autumn, Touchstone.

Main area of interest is prog rock & classic rock but I also like band such as Nightwish, Within temptation (Must get to see 'em live!), Lacuna Coil, Metallica....

Looking for inspiration of other bands to get into. Any suggestions?

There's a few older heads here. Me included (not that old though ;) )
Seeing the likes of Hawkwind live in 74 will give you plenty of respect here.
We've got a prog section (somewhere) along with a few prog heads.
Look out for boo boo...he should be back from his ban any day now.

Welcome to the boards man. :)

Wow, those are some amazing highlights .. I like Hawkwind, but Yes and Floyd, what I wouldn't give to see them at concerts in the 70s. :D

I also mostly like prog and classic rock although I'm about half your age. There's a few of us around but nowhere near enough, so warm welcomes!

If you want to find inspiration for stuff to get into, you should check out the journals section. I'd recommend my own because I think it would contain a lot you might like, but unfortunately it's gotten deleted and the same goes for quite a few others. We're hoping to be able to retrieve these soon. You might also find something interesting to check out or comment on in this thread :

Hope you stick around :)
