Help Me discover unforgetable music
 

Hi,

I'm new here, and I am absolutely obsessed with discovering new music.

Although I'm on a complete 60's/70's rock fix at the moment, I plan 2 get back into new music after I've finished my Led Zepplin and Rolling Stones CD collection.

I am always up for giving new music a go. I love Rock, Indie and a limited amount of pop/r&b/rap. Sorry folks, I despise metal. Drives me insane, music needs a melody or else its just not music (or me) :) .

My Fave Bands of all time are : The Cure, Led Zepplin, The Beatles and Rolling Stones. I always seem to go back to those 4 bands. they're like my comfort food, but with music :) .

My Fave solo singers are : Neil Young, Cat Stevens, Van Morrison, John Frusciante, Nick Drake and Joanna Newson.

I Hope to extend my musical knowledge as much as possible. Any Band/Singer names you wanna pass this way, please do, please, please, please do :) . I'd love to hear them.

If you're into The Cure you might like seme Dinosaur Jr. , definitely check them out. I'd recommend starting with the album "You're Living All Over Me"

I love The Beatles &, The Stones too. Other from the 60's I like The Shadows, The Ventures, The Yardbirds, Creedence Clearwater Revival. I like The Cure, groups from around that era I like are New Order, The Smiths, REM. I agree with BTown Dinosaur Jr. are a good Post-Punk band.

Since you mentoned a few of them if you like singer/songwriters you might like Jim Croce. I like Nick Drake too, if you like Nick guitarplaying you might like John Fahey.

Les Paul and Mary Ford are one of my favorite. If you like Led Zep, Page was influence by Les.

With time I'm sure your taste in music will expand and you'll discover a lot more bands/artists.

One group that gets my vote anytime is Creedence Clearwater Revival! An absolute must IMHO and also John Fogerty after they broke up. A couple of albums I would recommend without any hesitation are:

Hi there. I used to hate metal too...that is, until I ran into the Progressive metal band Tool.
Man, i love the stones and led zeppelin.
But tool, and the fact thats it's not regular metal (with really fast sixteenth notes not changing in pitch, like you mentioned) but its PROGRESSIVE metal means that it has touching, inspiring melodies and really, really, meaningful lyrics, not just stuff about hell and demons. I suggest that you listen to the album Lateralus, or 10,000 days. My friend's into country and light rock and he even likes Tool.

Yeah Lateralus is a good album, If you end up liking Tool I suggest Dream Theater.
By the way, not all metal is about hell and demons, you should give some more bands a chance.
