umm

I'm Paloma
I really hate making a big pretentious list of bands I like, so feel free to ask.

FETCHER. 12-01-2009 01:47 PM

Welcome Paloma :), What genre are you into :D?

Urban Hat€monger ? 12-01-2009 01:48 PM

Can you make a big pretentious list of bands you don't like?

HAHA I could try.

Some of these are obvious but:
I don't like Rancid, Devendra Banheart, Bikini Kill, NOFX, U2, The Cure, nearly all ska bands (although not versed on original ones, mostly 2nd, 3rd, whateverwaves), the obvious ones like Nickleback, oh wow this is harder than I thought....

I couldn't place which, I thought Trainspotting, I remember it's Renton saying that Sick Boy said it. Favorite book(and author), must have read it seriously 13 oe 14 times.

Urban Hat€monger ? 12-01-2009 01:56 PM

Wow what a coincidence. I went off on one about Bikini Kill just a couple of days ago.

Arya Stark 12-01-2009 01:57 PM

Welcome. Kind of.

Oh goodness. I've always wanted to, but their fans are a little terrifying.

Arya Stark 12-01-2009 01:58 PM

Urban is pretty terrifying himself.

It's slowly turning into my favourite book (first time read) :D
I like you already.

edit: Rikki isn't scary.

I imagine that since you're from Scotland it's a lot easier to read for you than it was for me, right? Good lord, I think the first two times I read it were just to understand what was being said!

It's just like reading any other book  truthfully.

Thank you everyone!

I really do hate Robert Smith though, I think most of their stuff is overrated, but they do have about...five good songs.

Bulldog 12-01-2009 03:59 PM

I've never really liked the Cure either. Couldn't say why, as I don't hate their music, they're just one of those bands I can't ever see myself getting into.

2nd wave ska-hate aside, you seem pretty cool :D Welcome to the boards.

Sansa Stark 12-01-2009 04:18 PM

Ha! Thanks.

I think I may stay.

Mostly old Black Flag. Well all of it is old but I favor Morris over Rollins.
And the only ska punk I can stand is Op Ivy

Same here! Morris is much better than rollins and I'm big on the Circle Jerks and am also big on Op Ivy.

storymilo 12-01-2009 06:58 PM

I have a Circle Jerks album on Vinyl that I've been meaning to listen to. They're pretty intense.

You lucky dog.
If you wann ahere intense 80's punk listen to Battalion of Saints.
If you want to get into 80's punk, try to get a hold of American Hardcore, that's how I started.

I'll do that. New genres=fun

Actually didn't you make a beginners guide comp to 80's punk? I'll just go check that out.

BTown 12-01-2009 07:10 PM

Yeah I guess you could try that, I feel like I half assed it though.

Yes indeed it is. How did you guess?:p:

Sansa Stark 12-01-2009 08:28 PM

Totally have it.

I'm glad I started collecting so early, like when I was 13, my first record was Kick Out the Jams

I was so much cooler as a kid

I am 13:p: My dad actually gets most of our vinyl, whenever we go into a record store he always checks out the vinyl sections and I pick out some CD's. Luckily he trusts me to give him recommendations and/or advice. The other day he was asking if I had heard of Dream Theater because he was considering getting an album on vinyl..... wonder what would have happened if he had gotten it.

Sansa Stark 12-01-2009 08:49 PM

Ha! Oh wow. That's awesome.
