Default Hey there folks

Hey

My name is Nick, just a young guy (23) trying to find some new music. Figured I would join up since I've come into a lot of free time lately. I like to have fun, and you can find me out and about most nights. Unless I bunker down in my bedroom with my laptop and a pair of headphones. Yeah, sometimes I go through those depressive, retrospective days where I just need alone time to think about how much my life doesn't suck compared to some people who actually have problems...lol, anyways.

A big fan of Southern Rock...though I have been trying to widen my horizon for the last year or so, building a respectable music collection err well trying to at least. Basically I've just been going through top 100 lists of albums and trying to find a decent artist or twelve. After awhile though I was just getting the impression that I was spending to much time looking backwards in music history. Rather I would look forward towards more modern and yes sometimes musicians who are still alive. I have yet to have the experience where I can say "Wow, this is a really good band/artist...I can't wait for their next album."

Hopefully with the collective mind (or maybe not so much) of this forum, I can succeed in my goal. One new band I've heard mentioned, The Mars Volta, on this forum and a certain movie (mostly since they were fictionally playing with the Pixies) were actually quite good. I enjoyed my listen of De-loused in the Comatorium. I guess what I am trying to say is that I am open minded to most music (or the Mars Volta is just a really good band), not sure anyways.

I hope to get to know most of you.

Favorite bands/musicians: Allman Brothers Band, The Beatles, Van Morrison and Jimi Hendrix.

ps. Yes I am a bit of a rambler sometimes and spacey. Odd.

...The Mars Volta? You're okay in my book! I loved De-Loused.

If you ever want to know of any other good Neo-Prog/Avant-Garde Rock/Experimantal bands, just drop me a PM!

Welcome to MB.
