Most innovative bands I never heard of
What are some interesting, creative, innovative bands that someone who listens to music quite a bit may have never heard of. I mostly listen to rock and roll, but I like just about everything that isn't the opposite of the innovation I'm looking for (aka trite pop garbage).
I like Pandora for finding new music, but I think a forum may be even better. Just to give an example of what I'm listening to now - The Shaggs The Buzz****s The Slits x-ray Spex (yeah a lot of roxy club stuff) Local Natives Early 70s Bowie Vampire Weekend's first album Them Crooked Vultures Animal Collective The xx Devendra Banhart - what will we be ratatat and a weed themed old-jazz compilation I really need some new music. Any artist suggestions are appreciated. Thanks |
Have you tried... reading the forum? The place is quite helpfully split up into genres, and there are also threads like This, This Or This or even threads like This Where people talk about music they either want or find interesting. All the information's out there, If you take a look and maybe listen to what some people have already posted, you might find out more about what you like. As it stands, you're asking a pretty impossible task: There are millions of songs out there, thousands of artists. If you're going to make a thread asking for recommendations, you're going to have to be a little more specific than "Innovative".

Normally we don't allow threads of this nature as there are recommendation threads in every part of the forum that you can ask in.
But as this one doesn't really fit into one forum and this is your first post I'm going to treat this as your introduction thread and move it into that forum. |
Have no fear, Dayvan Cowboy is here!
BATTLES EXTRA LIFE KAYO DOT MY BLOODY VALENTINE DON CABALLERO Honestly, I have loads of this kind of music. It take up 3/4 of my MP3 player. |

The first album of 'Zzz'.
Unfindable by the way. It's dutch and not well known. Their second album sucks. |
