Please allow me to introduce myself! I'm a 28 year old student and musician from Sweden who stumbled over this page in search for the lost chord (or a forum whereupon I could shamelessly promote my own musical yields). It caught my attention though so I'd thought I'd stay for a while and see what happens. When it comes to musical preferences I just love progressive rock and artrock, but also digest metal, indie, psychedelia and, well, simply good music that blows your mind rather than your body. And of course, Beatles will always and ever be no. 1.

And my own music? Well, I can't post links yet so we'll have that later. But I might reveal that I play guitars, bass guitar, keyboards, drums, flute and vocal cords, not necessarily simultaneously, as well as write my own songs. Not much else to say at the moment. We'll see how long I'll last.

If you have the time to look around a bit, you can see that this is a community for music fans to discuss, debate and share their thoughts about music in general, specific bands, genres etc. We have many interesting discussions here and one section of the forum that is especially of high quality: The MB Reader - Music Banter, where members post their reviews, journals, lists etc. So, you can see what kind of forum this is.

Sharing your own music can come later, after you prove yourself to be a contributing member of the forum who's not here just to promote his music. I'm sure you have interesting things to say, so, please stick around.

Yes, I've learned that this isn't quite a musician forum and would like to apologize for trying to promote myself (through my now removed signature). However, the discussions going on are quite involving and I have already found reason to contribute my own thoughts so yes, I will stay a while.

I'm not sure if that's much to be jealous about, but we have... hmm... snow, dysfunctional rail traffic and IKEA. And a quirky language. Gotta account for something.

It's the snow. And the Volvo's and Saabs.
Ah, no, Saab is Dutch now. I should be proud about that.
And Ikea, we have those here too. God I hate Ikea.
But still, there's something about Sweden. Don't know what, but I like it somehow.
And I love the language man

Saab is chinese for what I know, and Volvo still american. But the very invention of the companies is and will always be swedish and they have made a lot of neat models during the years. I myself actually drive an old Saab 96 V4 from 1969, which has no problem starting in -20° C. So yes, our car history I am very proud of actually.

And I'm not at all fond of the IKEA stuff although I totally admire the entrepeneurship of its founder, coming up with an idea that would end up a worldwide phenomenom.

But in the end I don't really like the notion of taking pride in my fellow countrymen. I much rather take pride in what I do myself.

We'll be buying a Volvo 340 (tax free next year in the Netherlands) soon.

I don't take pride in mine (or any) country, either. I wouldn't know why, it's just a bit of the Earth. But still I have a thing for Sweden
