i luv avat-gadre mooo'

I have spent an odd amount of time looking for avant-garde experimental acid folk with free jazz and drone influences. Doesn't that just seem like it would be incredible if it could exist?

Ah, Zoë. This is the one for you :)

It does exist. It's usually called freak-folk. Is that what you mean? Have you listened to Jackie-O Motherfucker, No-Neck Blues Band, Sunburned Hand of the Man, Six Organs Of Admittance and the like?

Welcome to the forum :)

Well, not -exactly- what I meant, but at the same time I was only being half serious. I was thinking like, Naked City meets Comus meets Sunn O))) meets The Angels of Light. That'd be perfect. I think a realistic shot at that would result in some of the elements drowning the others out, though.

But I've listened to a couple of those, and I love Six Organs of Admittance enough to have listened to all of The Six Stations multiple times. This is actually the first time I've seen another person mention them, which is pretty awesome.

Hmm...Naked City, Sun O))), The Angels of Light...I like your taste :) Although, I haven't listened to Comus yet.

Yeah, free jazz and drone together is bound to result in some serious conflict. Something has to go to background. But, imo, folk gets along well with pretty much everything.

First Utterance is the only album of theirs I would worry about if I were you. Seems like they lost their musical identity after that, or whatever you want to call it. Confuses me how they went from bleeding awkward creativity to being so damn generic.

Get rid of the folk and that's my dream band <3

My band will be called 222lyyyy87!!! and we will release a concept album about the philosophy of nothing and why we fear a state of complete nothingness. it would be epic.
