'Spose you could say that yahuh, well I'm hopefully gonna be working at the NME Magazine in the summer :tramp:

Not that may appeal to you now after reading your next sentence lol

Howard the Duck 03-30-2011 07:24 AM

not really sure, actually

wasn't that rewarding only just getting their opinions - whatever hype that was thrown on the next big thing......

when I bought their CDs, they got stale pretty fast

I'm a bit more into uncharted territory these days

Howell 03-30-2011 07:31 AM

That's cool man, but yeh NME are a bit stale at the mo, I 'spose 'cos we now have Q, Kerrang, Record Collector, Classic Rock, MOJO and a host more that are giving a lil more to unknown artists, mind you I haven't picked up a NME mag for about 2 months now, I'm more of a Q man myself... better not tell my NME boss that if I get the job for them in the summer !!

Howard the Duck 03-30-2011 07:43 AM

sure

I'm into MOJO, even then, selectively, as I buy issues according to the theme of each bonus CD - if I like the theme, I'll geddit

Howell 03-30-2011 11:38 AM

MOJO have a good issue at the moment it's a got a CD about the Ramones and their roots. Bought it the other day, defo worth a listen and ofcourse a read on the late great Joey Ramone, it will be 10 years in April he was taken away :(

Howard the Duck 03-30-2011 08:29 PM

I'll check it out later

holly984 03-31-2011 02:44 AM

Welcome Howell!

Mojo 03-31-2011 03:45 AM

Welcome!

What do you make of Beady Eye? I can't say I've bothered myself with whatever they have been doing, but I did just get a text from a mate this morning telling me he was listening to their album this morning and likes it.

Hey man yeh Beady Eye defo have a lot to offer, but you just can't help in knowing that the great Noel Gallagher is missing and it is not Oasis. :(

I think that's what a lot of fans of Oasis were expecting with Beady Eye - Oasis (without Noel) and yeh true it is Liam with three other members of Oasis but Beady Eye have a new sound and there is a mix of some Oasis like tunes, Beatles tunes (I mean the song 'The Roller' is almost an exact replicate of 'Instant Karma' by Lennon) but the songs were all wrote by Liam and the band and they are defo moving on from Oasis which is bloody good and heck even Liam said in an interview that Beady Eye will be playing NO OASIS songs during their gigs..... daring yet a truly bold thing for them to do in my book

So yeh man defo check it out on iTunes or Youtube or whatever, I personally enjoyed it and still I am (I am seeing them next month in Brighton :tramp:) and I am excited but ofcourse the album does lack something... but doesn't every album? It's an old cliche I know but defo worth a check my friend :)

Mojo 03-31-2011 04:21 AM

I'm going to listen to it on Spotify today, I think. I think they need to distance to themselves from Oasis, and a back-catalogue of predominantly Noel Gallagher-penned tracks. They at least need to do this initially, if they can get enough credit for what they are doing, on their own, then they could work some Oasis tracks in for the fans. I think they would be better off using the ones they wrote themselves though, as oppose to Noels.

I wasn't expecting much from their album, and I'm still not really. However, I've said it before, they have the potential to surprise people. Maybe not the potential to turn the world on it's head, they aren't gonna produce anything that hasn't been done before, and at a higher standard. But Liam Gallagher, Gem Archer, and Andy Bell, as songwriters, have more tracks in them than some people may realise I feel.
