Okay fine...

So I posted before I read the rules and will most likely be deleted, possibly banned. 'Tis okay, I'm gonna give it a try.

My name is Donna, I'm a 42 yr old female from Canada. I have a severely progressive form of multiple sclerosis, so when I'm not busy with caregivers (THERE ARE SO MANY!) I'm here on my MacBook or TV land.

Pre-MS I was very active in the music community which is why I have a lot of amazing musician friends. Most of them are in the Toronto area, but my absolute most favourite band on earth is The Polyjesters, who live near me here in Calgary, Alberta.

I joined this forum when I Googled "music forum" and it came up

I love music, but in all honesty, I mostly love the music my friends make! But I have a pretty diverse CD collection.

See ya around...

Hi Donna ! Welcome to MB !
I hope this place will keep you entertained - there`s certainly a lot of music, chat and information here.
Don`t worry, I don`t suppose anyone`s going to ban you yet, although they do have a No Advertisements policy.
I`m sorry to hear about the MS, and that you had to give up your activity in the music community. What did you used to do, I wonder ?

Hi Donna. Welcome to MB. You won't be banned. It's true we have rules against advertising, but considering your cause, I believe we can make an exception.

I hope you will stick around and find lots of good music here, to listen to, enjoy and discuss.

Hey, welcome to MB! I don't have a problem with your link either. I hope you enjoy posting here and that you find lots of new stuff to listen to!

Sorry to hear about the MS. My grandmother was diagnosed with MS in the 60's, but she believed the symptoms were there years before that. She never had any real problems with it, even up to her death at age 80. I guess you could say she was in a remission of sorts. My parents donate regularly to the MS Society of Canada :)

Thanks for the welcome, I deleted my signature because of the link (kinda spammy) but those interested can "go to my homepage" to see it! I have my story posted there too. Part of it. A book someday, probably...

I used to be the kind of person who never missed a local gig at my fave live music venues and did a lot to promote live music and my friends when they came to town. I guess I was kind of a small time publicist and big time fan, I also traveled every year to Toronto and/or Montreal and festivals to see my buds. I had hoped to do it for a living in some way but I fell into television and film, and then life and illness took over!

@Burning Down, your grandma was very lucky MS didn't take over her life! I won't support the MS Society, myself...(rant) they are in business to pad their pockets and the neuros and keep us sick (I've done my research, I'm bitter!) Hey, if we all got better they'd be out of jobs. Also they spend 65 cents to raise $1 and spend 52% on administrative costs (/rant)

Talk at you later! I need a new sig.

You seem to be a very kind person. Welcome to Music Banter.

What genres/bands in particular do you enjoy aside from the music your friends make?

Ohmigod totally, I'm a Canadian Valley Girl in my 40's... how pathetic am I. Guess I never thought of it that way!

I would have to say my all time favourite artists include Queen, The Beatles, Doors, Cranberries, Chet Baker, and I'm really happy about Duran Duran's new album! I never considered myself a valley girl, but I was certainly a Duranie in the 80's. Big time. And still love them.

I like most genres of music except rap/hip hop and when I was recently in southern CA for a medical procedure my caregiver kept the radio on KIIS FM which has a playlist of 5 songs (Rhianna, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Cee Lo, Chris Brown) and I wanted to kill myself. So I guess I'm not a big fan of that stuff in large doses. :)
