Salut!

Hello, my name is Marie, I'm 22 years old, and I am currently attending a maine university. I have been looking for a decent forum for a while, and have decided to try this one out. I sing and play guitar and the piano. I love to be outside doing things, playing fetch with my Australian shepherd. Looking for some people to befriend, so hit me up. :)

Burning Down 05-01-2011 08:41 AM

Welcome to MB!!

leseulloupgris 05-01-2011 09:03 AM

Umm, a lot of the 90s. Lol. Matchbox Twenty. Goo Goo Dolls. Sarah Bareilles (spelling?). Norah Jones. Jack Johnson. Ramstein. Lots more.

Nosferatu Man 05-01-2011 10:17 AM

Hey welcome to MB, Norah Jones is like 3rd cousin through marriage would you believe although we've never met.

Bienvenue à MusicBanter. J'espère que vous appréciez votre temps ici. Vous avérez-vous justement jouer des instruments musicaux ?

Sorry sweetie, I don't understand what you are saying.

djchameleon 05-01-2011 11:00 AM

My french is horrible and rusty because I haven't written in it since back in high school but I was basically asking if you played any musical instruments

I also said welcome to MusicBanter and I hope you enjoy your stay.

lol what a waster, all that effort and she doesnt speak a word of it.

Welcome to MB. I also found it strangely funny to see that list of favourite artists with Rammstein on the end, it seems incredibly random.

leseulloupgris 05-01-2011 11:21 AM

It was supposed to be. most people dont look at me and picture me listening to that kind of music.

EvilChuck 05-01-2011 01:01 PM

Yeah, you look like a preppy hipster tbh :p

That isn't all that bad DJ. My French isn't very good, definitely worse than yours, but I can tell you that this isn't all too rusty. I think you conjugated some fo the verbs wrong, but still, nice effort :D. How did you learn to speak french?

Five years of french in school

they made us take two years in middle school and three years in high school

I'm pretty good at roughly translating french text to someone that doesn't know french lol

s_k 05-01-2011 04:10 PM

That's pretty much what I can do, but you definitely write it an awful lot better than I do :).
I've had two years of french in what you'd probably call high school.
I think we only have elementary --> high --> college/university here.
4-12yrs: Elementary
12-17: High school
17-whateveryouwant: College/University
All ages depending more or less on the level of schooling.
I chose German instead of French at some point, that's the choice you get here.
You get to learn English (which is good), three years of German and French and depending on the 'package' you choose you get to learn at least one other language for the last two years of high school. And Dutch througout elementary & high-school, obviously. English already starts in the last two years of elementary school.

So... there you have it :D

Nosferatu Man 05-01-2011 06:05 PM

Yeah I did three years of german, latin and french in my secondary school and then you choose one of the three for the final three years and i chose french, 6 years and i probably remember none of it now!

Burning Down 05-01-2011 07:20 PM

DJ, your French is pretty good, for not having spoken or written it in awhile. I learned French all throughout elementary and high school because I was in the immersion program. I'm still pretty good at it and would love to get into the French class at my university, although there are only 40 spots and they give preference to French majors (of course). So it's very competitive.

They only gave us the option between Spanish and French.

Everyone was complaining about how much harder French was to Spanish.

That's one of my reasons I took it up, I was looking for a challenge but it wasn't that bad.

I also decided to take French because there were some cute females that were taking it and I told my friend to take French. There was a total of 3 guys in French class and the rest were female. :D

The third reason I decided to take it was because it was the language of love and I figured it would come ini handy later on in life if I wanted to take my future wife to Paris.
