Hi, I'm new

First time here, first post.
I'm here because the other forum I posted at died a long time ago. But this is my first time posting in a music forum though. It's gonna be fun getting to know people, discovering new music, sharing, and maybe making AOTY lists or something.

I am awaiting your responses

Alot of genres really, everything from Indie Pop and Freak Folk to Djent and Math Rock. At the moment I would like to like to get into more math rock, all I have in there is just entry level stuff.

What are you into?

Wow, good to see a newbie who enjoys a wide range of music! Who are your favorite artists?

Also, listen to any jazz? I always like new jazzheads! :)

I have been wanting to get into jazz for a while, but never really knew where to start. I'm a drummer, so anything with great a great drummer would be great.

As for favorite artists:

Anamanaguchi, Alvin Band, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Animal Collective, Arctic Monkeys, BADBADNOTGOOD (kinda jazz), Beach Boys, Between the Buried and Me

To cover a few

I don't know if there is a "right" place to start with jazz... but Miles Davis is usually accepted as one of the best jazz artists ever, and his album Kind of Blue is what got me into the genre. Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, and Louis Armstrong are all other artists that helped me love the genre... but explore, find what you enjoy. There's a ton of jazz fusion out there too, so find bands that incorporate other genres into jazz, or vice versa.

And I'm a drummer too! Play in a band?

Good call on BADBADNOTGOOD, by the way. I'm seriously jamming to them right now.

Just got Kind of Blue and I'm gonna listen to it right away. As for BADBADNOTGOOD, I found out about them searching through some Odd Future on Youtube and saw their stuff. If you have never checked out their YT account, you should, they have alot of original content that is worth looking at.

And no, I'm not in a band atm. I have tried a couple of times but it never works out. I would love to be in a band or project or anything but I'm in a preety small town so it's hard to find people with good taste. The last band I joined was dead set on being an 80's Thrash Metal band, no compromise, it didn't work out.

Welcome to MB !
If your user name indicates your attitude, you`ll fit in really quickly here.
Not to overwhelm you, but there is a whole thread about where to start with jazz:-

Also, the link in my signature, below, is to an album club that sometimes features Freak Folk. You are welcome to join us.

BTW, I can`t figure out what "AOTY lists" might be. Any chance of enlightening me ?
