Please, Allow Me to Introduce Myself

Straight to business; I was looking for a music forum with a lot of diverse boards.
And MusicBanter came up pretty well recommended, so I decided to sign up.

My name is Chris. I'm a 22 year old male from Norway and I'm a caretaker of sorts.
The main reason I wanted to find a forum for discussing and sharing various genres
of music is that I believe ALL genres of music have talented artists, and the best
way of finding a talented artist in a genre you might not be familiar with (or even like)
is taking advice from people who already love that genre, and who are experienced within it.

That was a lot of commas and a lack of punctuation but I'm confident that I've given
you all my point of view, and I hope I could be of some help as well with the knowledge of
music that I've gathered so far in my life.

Thank you,
S

First off, I'm a huge hip hop fan. More specifically battleraps,
underground and old school. And my list of favorite hip hop artists
is endless. So here is a short version...

Big L
Tha Alkaholiks
Masta Ace
La Coka Nostra
The Beatnuts

First that came to mind so I jotted them down.
But I'm a crate digger so I appreciate a wide
array of vocalists and musicians like...

Dean Martin
Roy Brown
Bob Crosby
Aphex Twin
Crystal Method
Muddy Waters
Meat Beat Manifesto

Thanks, I'll try my best not to disappoint you fellas. I haven't really
gotten into this forum thoroughly yet. Still talking to people in introduction
but so far so good!

Can't friggin' WAIT until Lucas and Spielberg decide Howard the Duck doesn't
look 4K 3D enough so they do a shot-for-shot remake starring Harrison Ford as Howard the Human.

It's okay. I think you're probably the only person who got it anyway.

Dude, anyone who didn't get that should be sterilized.

Nice, I like the hip-hop you listed.
I'm big into hip-hop myself, and it's good to see someone who appreciates the old school and the ridiculously underrated Big L.

Also like the blues artists you mentioned as well as Deano. I'm assuming you've played Fallout 3 from the Brown and Crosby mentions?

Goofle 09-13-2012 12:11 PM

Is your name HOV? ........ :D

And decent list of artists there. Stick around.

I guess so!

Trollheart 09-13-2012 12:37 PM

Yeah, I don't get it either? Got yours Jansz; as his Lordship says, anyone who doesn't should be sterilised (though what making them drink milk has to do with anything is anyone's guess!) --- Maybe you should have said "Pleased to meet you: hope I guessed your name?" (should be a smilie for a shrug. WHY is there NOT a smiley for a SHRUG! I demand answers, dammit (Mayor Quimby voice)

I'm guessing it's a Jay Z reference but I don't get the reference.

Goofle 09-13-2012 01:26 PM

It's almost a lyric in one of his tracks "Public Service Announcement (Interlude)" that is seemingly quite hard to find in its original condition on YouTube.

Janszoon 09-13-2012 01:36 PM

Why does Jay Z call himself a high occupancy vehicle anyway?

Cause he does gay porn on the side.

Only two or more at a time can ride in the Jay Z lane, baby.

Huge of fan of the Fallout series. All the tracks in Fallout 3 and New Vegas are timeless gems.
I've played both those soundtracks on repeat in my Winamp more than once, but my gramps
has fed me a lot of 40s and 50s music since I was a lil' babby.

The man is a legend. He sickest flows and craziest punchlines you'll ever hear!
R.I.P Big L

That would explain why I didn't get it. Never listened to a Jay Z track in.my.life.

Goofle 09-13-2012 06:01 PM

He ain't so bad.

So true. Fallouts soundtracks opened my ears to music I never thought about trying to this day.
I remember my cousin asking me to make him a 'cool music' CD for his car when he started driving.
I put on all the generic modern pop of the day to win him over and included The Ink Spots 'Don't want to Set the world on fire' as a rib and he genuinely loved it haha.

And L's one of my favourite MC's of all time.

I hope you stick around, sounds like we have a fair bit in common.
