Hi Ya'll

I hate these intro thingies, but I know some folks think it's impolite not to do one. So here goes...

Hi, I'm Becky. Full blooded Texas trailer trash but I live in Louisiana now. A few of you may know me from another site (which will remain nameless).

I play piano and like all kinds of music, especially classical, jazz, prog rock, indie, and well done electronica. Anything else you'd like to know, please ask.

I'm looking forward to gettin to know everyone. :)

Mojo 07-30-2013 12:28 PM

Welcome!

Arya Stark 07-30-2013 12:29 PM

Why is the other site remaining unnamed, were you banned?

Mojo 07-30-2013 12:31 PM

We can't speak of its name or all manner of evil will occur.

No I wasn't. But I've heard that there's been a history of friction between the sites. Kinda petty I know, but I'm never surprised at what some people will hold against you.

Mojo 07-30-2013 12:37 PM

It doesn't really come up in conversation here a lot but we've had and have plenty of members post there as well. I wouldn't worry about it.

Welcome to the site. I never knew Music Banter had a rival site, someone care to fill me in? I feel left out.

Arya Stark 07-30-2013 01:12 PM

Oh. No one really cares about someone being on both sites, so don't worry about it.

Good to see you make the move over Bec. Its been awhile, good to see ya. Glad you and Plankton moved over, you were two of my favorite posters on the site that will remain nameless.

You don't need to know about "them".

They're all MFers.

Thanks Fred. Hope it's ok with Plank that you implicated him in this too. ;)

I'm happy to be implicated, I'd take a bullet for you any day.

I should've said 'virtual' bullet, but yeah.

Welcome! :)

Anyone who's a friend of Fred, Plankton, and Mojo is a friend of us all. Welcome, CoolBec! Who are your favorite artists?

Or better yet, what are your top five albums, off the top of your head?

Thanks Blarobbarg. Five albums?! Geez that's tough, there are so many and the answer to that question changes daily. I'll try to single out a few of my all time favs (leaving out the classical stuff to narrow it down a little).

Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
Standards (Vol I & II) - Keith Jarrett
Pat Metheny Group - Pat Metheny Group
Fictionary - Lyle Mays
Moving Pictures - Rush
An Evening with John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess (Live Album)

As far as more current stuff, just too much to list.

Well, that's it, you're not allowed to leave. You're far too valuable.

But seriously, never leave. We need more jazz lovers 'round here.

I was actually an insufferable jazz/classical snob in high school. As I got older I finally took my head out of my a$$ and realized I was missing some pretty good stuff in some other genres.

Hi CoolBec! I totally know all about the MF rivalry but honestly on this forum no one even talks about them. It's more the MF's issue than ours. People get annoyed on this site because we don't allow new members to post links or promote their own music so they go to MF where you can and bitch about it.

CoolBec 08-02-2013 06:01 PM

Hi Vanilla! I'd honestly have to say that it doesn't really get mentioned much over there either. I'm sure it's just one of those things where one or two people start belly aching and talkin s**t.

On my OP I was really just giving a shout out to a couple of the folks who know me from there. Def not trying to dredge up any idle rumors.

butthead aka 216 08-02-2013 06:04 PM

welcome i knew i recognize your username, i use to post on mf sporatically for awhile til i just stopped because the mods were douchebags and discussion sucked. i wish 'always' would have jumped ship to this site cause he was a cool dude the few times we chatted

Mojo 08-02-2013 06:18 PM

I don't know if the 'Always' over there is the same as the 'Always' over here, but if they are then they do post here, just under a different name now.

Astronomer 08-02-2013 11:10 PM

Hi! I used to post there too, but under a different username, I like it here better too :)
