Introducing: Alana

Hello everyone,
I've been lurking around for a while and finally found the courage to register my own account and start posting.

Here's a little about me:
I'm just an introverted 30 year old girl from Malaysia. My interest in music goes way back to since I was a child. Used to play the organ, but it's been years now and circumstances have prevented me from pursuing it further. Hope I will get to know everyone better as I try to break out from my shell and be more outgoing.

As for music, my current playlist is constantly switching depending on the mood I'm in. Throw in some Kamelot, Epica, Within Temptation for emo days alone, or some jazz (Caro Emerald, Diana Krall, Dave Koz) and blues (Joe B, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd) when I feel like winding down. Electronica is also a genre I've just started looking into. Definitely keep those recommendations coming and of course, MORE MUSIC :hphones:

Welcome!

Blues/Jazz awesome. Can't wait to see what you have to share with us, those are two genres I'd love to expand my knowledge of.

Welcome to MusicBanter, Alana! I hope you'll have fun connecting here with other people who love music.

My aunt plays the organ and I remember being very impressed when I was a child watching her play using hands and feet. She played an electronic organ at home and performed on real ones in churches.

What sort of organ did you play, and what sort of music?

You mentioned your interest in electronica and music recommendations, and so I'd like to share with you one of my favorite electronica pieces that I learned about here at MusicBanter: "Fine Objects" by Eskamon, a duo made up of Amon Tobin and Eskmo ( http://eskamon.com/ ).

I love this song because it strikes me as whimsical and powerful at the same time. I hope you'll enjoy it, and again, welcome to MB!

I used to play the electronic organ too. If I recall correctly it was from the Yamaha electone EL series. I had that organ for about 6 years and it was just amazing. I played quite a variety of music, usually from the songbooks available. I still remember one of my favourite song to play was "Yesterday" by the Beetles :P. Also the obligatory Fur Elise, heheee.

You're welcome, Alana.

Maybe you can get another electronic organ and continue to play! "Yesterday" and "Fur Elise" are both great songs.

And if you get tired of those, then there's always...

"Star Wars/Raiders of the Lost Ark" .... played on the organ :)
