Hello

I was perusing the web for music when I stumbled across this place. Thought it looked pretty cool so I decided to sign up.

First album(s) I remember listening to as a kid were Queen's Greatest Hits, Paradise Theater by Styx, and Billy Joel's Greatest Hits (volume 1 and 2). Over the years my musical taste has evolved significantly. The first band that I really "worshipped" was and still is Pink Floyd. I will never get tired of their music, and they have helped shape my current taste in music in many ways. I'd say I am interested in/capable of enjoying most genres of music, but my personal preferences include Psychedelia, Progressive Rock, Experimental Rock, Indie, Folk, and I've been getting into more "out there" No Wave/Avant Garde style rock (as you can see by my avatar/user name). Am a fan of intensely atmospheric rock in general, really.

Looking forward to posting here and finding even more hidden gems along the way.

Your avvy and username tell me you have very good taste, welcome to the boards! What other avant-garde rock outfits do you fancy?

Still relatively new to the genre (been looking through the internet all day looking for different bands to listen to of said ilk), but I like what I've heard from James Chance and the Contortions. Definitely looking for suggestions for Avant Garde style rock.

Well you came to the right guy, I live and breathe the stuff. If you're into no wave check out DNA, early Swans, Fu****susha's "Hikari to Nazukeyo", and Branca's first band Theoretical Girls. Non-no wave artists you might like are This Heat, Naked City, Zu, Mr. Bungle, and The Pop Group. I'd love to hear your thoughts on some of these!

Alright, will check them out and let you know my thoughts ASAP, thanks!

Also, to note, I actually was checking out a side project of Swans' Michael Gira just before, which I really, really liked. Have heard of Swans and I know that their most recent album is considered to be probably the best of 2014 so far; that album is definitely on my "listen to next" list.

Welcome to the board. Did you give that Godspeed album a listen yet by chance? Are you a fan of them?

Unfortunately when I went to download it this afternoon it said the code had expired. :/
