Hello guys!

As appropriate, I will introduce myself here.

My name is Tommy, live in Holland, 20 years old, website owner and music fan.

My favourite bands/artists are

Led Zeppelin
The Rolling Stones
Guns N Roses
ZZ Top
AC/DC
Eminem

I signed myself up here because I just like to talk about music and I want to learn more about the opinion of other music fans/artists. Also I think you guys can help me grow my website by giving me feedback.

Looking forward to get in touch with you!

How do you feel about the completely unsubtle homophobic assertions littered throughout Eminem's music? Also, what is your viewpoint on the hyper misogynistic nature of his lyricism, or the violence glamorization scattered throughout? Are you comfortable being labeled as a violent, misogynistic homophobe, or are you simply ignorant to the immature childish redundancy that is Eminem's music?

Welcome :)

Dude, I ****ing love homophobic and misogynistic violence. It gets me up in the morning and keeps me going well into the night. Without it, I just don't know where I'd be right now. Probably being a dick to some guy on the internet just because he said he liked Eminem. Thank god for homophobic and misogynistic violence.

Hello Tom,

I like the Stones, Led Zep and ZZ Top, tbh don't I listen to the other three. I like Space Siren, a shoegaze band from Holland. Any favorite bands from Holland you would like to mention?

Haha, thanks! :D

You are right that he has some strange lyricism throughout his music. But I think you didn't hear every lyric he wrote. He is actually mocking about ehm... everyone... He says he is gay himself all the time... Just for mocking's sake (or he is really gay.. I don't mind).

You should listen to his song Bad Guy. Also Guts Over Fear is a song where he says sorry and he feels bad. I think he isn't as bad as you described him. He is not an angel, but I think good music is not about the goodness of the person behind the music, because we don't know him that well.. I see myself as a nice guy, but my if I make music, it is terrible.... haha

Space Siren, never heard of 'em. I should listen to that. There aren't many good bands in Holland IMO. There are a few good artists/singers, but no bands.

I don't know if I would say these guys sound like shoegaze though.

That's not why he says those things. He's not mocking anyone. His claim is that in freestyle culture, f@ggot is a word that is used. It has nothing to do with poking fun. It's about asserting dominance. I don't plan on listening to any Eminem songs ever again.

So because you don't like Eminem's lyrics, then logically anyone who does is either wrong or an *******? Quit being such a know-it-all prick. I'm assuming you're somewhere under the age of eighteen, cause nobody above that age has any business being that arrogant and pointlessly antagonistic.

I never said that. In fact, the only person insulting anyone is you. I think you should learn some tact. But I digress, because what do I know -- I'm just a child. If you need to put words into someone's mouth and act like they are saying something they aren't in order to discredit their opinion, your point of view probably isn't strong enough to be worthwhile to anyone but yourself.

Your own words.

I never called him that, though. I asked if he was comfortable being labeled as that. If someone came in and started linking a bunch of skinhead punk, it wouldn't be unlikely for someone to think "okay this person is probably racist." By saying you are a fan of Eminem, you are, at the very least, sending out an implication, whether deliberate or otherwise, that you are tolerant of casual homophobia and misogyny, and willing to support and identify with an artist that expresses said point of view, a point of view I personally find highly offensive.

I never called him a misogynistic homophobe. I asked him if he was comfortable with the label. A label is not definitive. A label is more often than not placed upon someone by someone other than that particular individual.

I pick my words very carefully, unlike you.

Yes you did choose your words. Either he's comfortable with the label, which for him to admit would give the appearance that he is in fact a misogynist homophobe, or that he is ignorant of something childish, implying that he is stupid.

So you are either a condescending, pseudo-intellectual prick, out to show everyone how smart he thinks he is, or you are condescending pseudo-intellectual, wannabe moral crusader, out to show everyone how smart he thinks he is.

Either way, you're a ****ing dick.

grtwhtgrvty 02-15-2015 02:52 PM

Can't I be both of those things?

Tom - 02-16-2015 07:21 AM

Ghehe, guys,
I agree with The Batlords.

To come back to the first question: Are you comfortable being labeled as a violent, misogynistic homophobe, or are you simply ignorant to the immature childish redundancy that is Eminem's music?

Ehm... well, are those who put that label on me, comfortable with labelling everyone they don't know? I think they are ignorant themselves. I don't care what ignorant people say or think about me. I know better.

By the way, if you think Eminem is like that, you obviously don't know his music well enough.

grtwhtgrvty 02-16-2015 08:17 AM

Maybe I don't know his music well enough. I just know him as someone who constantly uses the word ***got and posts rape jokes on twitter.
