Marhaba

Hello. My name is Ala'edin or Alaadin, doesn't really matter how you spell it in English. I'm from East Jerusalem, Palestine. I don't really have a permanent home and I move around a lot but I am currently studying in the UAE (Dubai), 1st year college student.
Music has always been my favourite thing and I love exploring new music but my favourite will probably always be Arabic music. I love to procrastinate and I love to waste time and since I love music, I thought this website was perfect.
I love a lot of different genres but I am currently listening to a lot of 90s rap and 70s punk music.
This is a pretty ****ty introduction but just wanted to say hello.

Thanks for the question. I don't even really know where to start. There's this genre of Arabic music called Muwashshah. It's very old Arabic poetry consisting usually of 5 stanzas sang over music, instruments usually being the oud, kamanja and qanun. This is one of my favourite songs and was written a very long time ago by an Arab poet in Al Andalus/Spain

There's also famous Iraqi oud player Naseer Shamma. I love his work.

I also love 60s Arabic music such as Mohammed Jamal, Fairuz, Abdel Halim Hafez and some underground acts like the Palestinian rap scene and some modern pop acts as well.

Thanks! One of my best friends growing up was from New York and didn't know any Arabic so I had to speak to him in English and that really helped.
